  800!?! I don't think my FI and I even know 800 people lol.  I don't know if you'll be able to find one room that can hold that many people but the Michigan Union at U of M has very high ceilings and is gorgeous.

  The Diamond Center in Novi might be a little far but they can hold 800 and have REALLY tall ceilings. It's all brand new and the space is really pretty.

  I believe the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center can accommodate up to 1,000. Also, the Marriot Troy (maybe). I don't know what you consider high, but if I'm remembering right, the Ren Cen Marriott has decently high ceilings.

  The Antheneum Hotel in Greektown holds 800 and is a two story room. This is were my reception is being held.

  Try San Marino Club in Troy.  I think he told us it could hold up to 800

  I second the Marriott Ren Cen and the Diamond center. I have had work events at both and they are great to work with with tons of space.
