dollar dance...

My fiance and I do not want to do the dollar dance. We think it's tacky but many of the guests our age have expressed interest that we should do it at our reception. Even though we've made our feelings about it known to all, what do we do if people start one? I've told FI that I didn't think there would be a polite way to decline at the reception without looking snooty or ungrateful in some way.

Is there a proper way around this or will we need to just suck it up if it does happen?

Re: dollar dance...

  • One can't really be started without your okay given to the DJ.  I mean people could walk up with money and hand it to you but as long as you are very clear with your DJ that there is to be no "official" announcement about a dollar dance and that udner no circumstances is he to start one by guest request, you should be okay.  It's a whole process with a little purse for collecting and everythign so wihtout it being organized ahead of time, it's not really going to happen.  GL!

  • Tell the DJ if he starts a dollar dance he will NOT be paid. Give him a list of songs/special dances you do not want with the information  (add it to your contract) that if he plays those dances he will not be paid.

  • I agree with PPs, as long as the DJ is informed, it shouldn't be a problem at all!
