Has anyone given bottles of wine as their favor. I have seen it as an idea in many magazines; however, I am unable to find anything reasonable in my own internet search? Thanks for any help!
check with your local wine stores if they dont have it instock they will be able to order it for you. When i ordered mine i was also able to use a 15% coupon
We are donig bottles of wine and a set of wine glasses as our wedding party favors. We went to a local winery and they give you a discount if you buy in bulk so that is what we did. We got 30 bottles for about $200 but that is with our own label on there also!
I may do wine- BUT my family and I make our own wine- from kits so it's really not that much work.
An average kit will run you about $60 and take anywhere from 3-12 months before its ready to drink. That makes 30 bottles. So your spending about 50 cents per 750ml bottle of wine.
It's alot of fun! I recycle bottles (people save them for me and get them from a local bar) and I already have the equiptment but you can get starter kits with all the equipment you need for $75ish This is the one I have: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/starter-winemaking-equipment-kit.html
I get all of my stuff there because my family also brews so we order togeather to save on shipping (which can get expensive because everything is so heavy)
Make wine is REALLY REALLY easy- although you can make it as complex as you want...
I don't recommend getting the equiptment and making wine JUST for your wedding, but its an awesome hobby. I give people wine for the holidays and birthdays and as thank you gifts. It may just be one more thing I add to my wedding to make it special.
I hope this helps please email me if you have any questions, i'd be happy to chat more with you. kate.liberti at gmail.
Oh- just to throw this out there- while my family has done the wine thing for a few years... I Just started, I have only done two batched. One was AMAZING the other one is okay but it's a very oaky chardonnay which I don't care for- a friend made a Shiraz with my equiptment which came out really well too.
I mention this just because there are ton's of ingrediant kits out there so if you decide to go this route make sure you get something easy to drink and in the ordinary. Good Luck!
Try Trader Joes. Or go to your local liquor or wine store and ask them about ordering you 375 ml bottles. The 375 bottles are smaller but alot of times you can get case discounts. Plus you can have labels made online pretty inexpensive.
September 2011 November Siggy Challenge: First Dance Photo (I still haven't uploaded all of my wedding pictures, so here's a picture of what happens when you mix me, my bridesmaids, a man who hates to dance, and an open bar).
We're doing mini-champagne bottle for our wedding. The local store is giving us 20% off buying in bulk, so it's only $1.50 per bottle. I found a website that does personalised labels for cheap. Here's their site:
