July 2012 Weddings

Thank you note

Ok, so one of my mom's coworkers gave my mom a gift to give to me. My mom isn't inviting her to the wedding, so she wasn't invited to the shower.

Anywho, she is one of the last thank-you notes I've got to write and I'm coming up with a blank. So far I've got, "Dear Helen,"

On everyone's notes I'm writing stuff like.. Thank you so much for coming to the shower... It was god to see you... I can't wait to visit with you more this summer at the wedding... I'm so happy to share this special time in my life with you... But, none of that obviously applies to her.

So, I'll thank her for her gift and say something like 'it was sweet of you to think about me' But, I feel like I need more to beef it up.

Any ideas?

Re: Thank you note

  • Maybe add what you plan on doing with the gift or how great it will match your kitchen, bathroom, or whatever it goes well with. And how you look forward to putting it into use after the wedding.

  • Whenever I have to write awkward thank yous like this, I always try to write something about how I am going to use the gift, why I am excited about it, etc.  I also try to write REALLY BIG so it looks like I am saying more than I actually am, hahaha.
  • omg, duh, why didn't I think about telling her I'm excited to use the gift. I'm doing that with everyone else's. She bought me a three tier serving bowl thingy so I'll comment on that. And yes, to the big handwriting!

  • If it's a serving bowl, yes, comment on how you're going to use it! You "can't wait to use it during family holidays" or some nonsense.
