Anyone Have Any Experience With The Kirkwood Inn --- Mason, OH?

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to Ohio and find myself planning a small scale wedding after relocating to the Dayton area from Tampa, Florida in November. My FI and I are also tossing the idea around of doing a destination wedding and then doing a small reception stateside, but haven't really solidified any idea(s) yet.

My friend and I went out and toured the Kirkwood Inn today in Mason, OH and while I fell completely in love with the outdoor space, I have some concerns with the Kirkwood Home itself and its ability to host a more "llively" event as well as its catering facilities (I plan to bring in an outside caterer). I was also not totally in love with the hotel rooms, but I keep on going back to the outdoor space and the fact that the space itself is gorgeous and historic and has a wonderful feel with the need for just a few "tweaks."

Being that I just moved here, I don't have any friends who have been married here and I haven't been to any weddings here either.

Does anyone have any experience with this location good or bad or have any other similiar sites they would suggest?

I don't know anything about The Kirkwood Inn. But I went to their website to get a feel for them. Here are other suggestions for a similar look and feel (kinda outdoors, kinda indoors, historic houses) so you can shop around:

I went to an outdoor reception at The Kirkwood a couple years ago. It was a gorgeous reception. Not sure what you want to know about it, but it was very nicely done. They had an outside caterer and I'm pretty sure they used a kitchen or something inside the building to store the cake. PM me if you have other questions.
