AW: our favours

We are so very lucky to have relatives with a sugar bush! My FI's uncle (and his 6 kids) have a farm and a sugar bush; his granny, at 92 is still the one who puts the caps on the bottles of syrup. They are providing us with all the maple syrup for our favours, bottling the syrup for us, and they are getting us a wicked deal on the mini bottles through their supplier. I love that we will be giving something to guests that is personal and delicious (their syrup is to die for!!). And for an added touch, we are going to include a recipe for our favourite dessert on the little thank you note card attached to the bottle; it's a simple recipe that include the syrup :)
The bottles will look like this, with a white cap, a note card and sheer white/eggplant ribbon.

  • That is an awesome favor! I loooove real syrup (i.e. not Aunt Jemima, haha) so I would be thrilled to receive that!

  • This is so cute!  I love the little bottle and that it's practical!!  I don't like knick knacks, so I love that it's not something to just sit around and collect dust.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • Yumm. I grew up traveling to Vermont to my dads families farm and they always produced delicious maple syrup. There is nothing better than real maple syrup...now I want some breakfast for dinner!

  • I love it! I would totally want a favour like that when going to a wedding!
BTW I totally had no idea what you were talking about when you pointed the u out until I stopped and thought about it lol
  • I actually once read a HUGE thread about this on TK.  People threw out terms like "ignorant" and "uneducated" etc. when people thought the spellings were wrong.

I understand Canadians spelling like that, because it's how they were taught and what they know.  But when someone from Texas starts spelling that way, I can't help but feel like they are trying to be fancy and sound smart.

I've gotten used to the "backwards" spellings too.  I'm only 60 miles from the Canadian border, and the nearest "city" to me is actually in Canada, not the states.  "FibRe"  "CentRe"

Love your "favour" idea. Totally got your "spelling"... my Mum is British!
  • Totally in love with this. Maple syrup is such a tasty gift and so personal. The bottle is also very cute!

  • we actually sell the syrup for his uncle in the spring in the city and we can never have enough for everyone! we had orders since last fall for this year's batch! people litterally buy 10 bottles at a time - it's sooooo good!!

What's really fun is that my son has been able to go see the whole production and visit the farm in the spring - what kid doesn't love that?!?
