Introducing myself - I'm new!!

Just wanted to say hi. I'm Krissie, I'm 30 and live in Boston. Wedding date set for May 24. I'm hoping to gush about wedding plans with some other brides because our timing has turned out to be weird to get engaged - two aunts just got divorced, one of my best friend's husband just moved out suddenly, and one of my bridesmaids just had to elope at city hall last winter because her husband refused to participate in any kind of wedding, so I'm trying to be sensitive to the fact that I'm surrounded by some possibly "jaded" people at the moment who may not want to hear about the newest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings with me! So hopefully, you guys are all wedding excited! LOL

So far, I already have my dress and venue booked. We've chosen a photographer but haven't put a deposit and signed just yet. And I think I've finally narrowed down my colors.

It's still a year to go, what other to-do's has everyone ticked off so far?

  • Hi Krissy ... I am the girl from Boston getting married in Ireland but I am going to need to do so many things in Boston like dress shopping, invites, etc that I really hope we can share local vendors. I am like you ... my sister is my MOH and getting a divorce!  So I don't want to gush too much until it is closer to the time.

What colors did you choose?  Where is your venue?  I haven't settled on colors yet because my venue is going to be dark, stone "castley" which is good ... and bad .. there goes my pink garden palette!
  • Hi Jody! Where are you in Boston? Are you in the city or a suburb? I grew up in the city, but now FI and I live down on the South Shore. My venue is Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston http://www.indianpondcountryclub.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp and our colors are pale yellow and orange.

Also, I think a pale pink garden palette would be AMAZING in an Irish castle/manor! That's what I think of when I think Ireland!! You wouldn't want to make everything TOO dark (unless you're actually aiming for a medieval theme). In fact, I think the lighter you keep the color palette, the more focus will be on the building and surroundings. JMO.
