1 hour welcome party. Is this okay?

We are having a destination wedding in new orleans, so all my guests are from out of town.  We're thinking about having a small rehearsal dinner for the wedding party (less than 40 guests) at muriels and then inviting all the wedding guests (an additional 60 guests) to a welcome party for cocktails and desert.  The welcome party will probably start at 9 pm.  How long do you think the welcome party should be?  Is 1 hour okay?

    i guess it depends on your guests. are they party type people? you may want to make it longer, or suggest a bar to move on to after.
    are they not drinkers? i think an hour would be just fine.
    are you picking up the tab? then 1 hour would definitely be fine hahaa.

    I think an hour is plenty of time. We had a small welcome party at our wedding, and everyone really enjoyed it but I could tell that some people were antsy to get out and enjoy the city. After an hour, people can go their own way or you can re-direct the whole group to another bar so you can all continue to visit!
