  • I'm a dweeb. My "theme" song is "Bella's Lullaby" from Twilight.

  • Ooh I LOVE that song!! I really wanted our first dance to be to "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by Iron and Wine (the song Bella and Edward danced to at prom) but I found out the lyrics are all about politics, haha.

My dad used to play "Somewhere over the rainbow" on the piano and hum it all the time when I was little, so I'm going to surprise him and use the original Judy Garland version for our father-daughter dance.

Other than that, LOTS of 80's music! :)

As a side note, and TOTALLY not vintage, I've been trying to figure out how to play songs from Glee at the wedding. I love that show so much...

  • Don't get me started on Glee, I love it so much! Our first dance song is Mama Cass Dream a Little Dream, but Artie sang it on Glee!

We're mostly playing music for everyone else to dance to, but if you look in my bio under Movies & Music all of our "key" songs are from films we like and our theme is a hollywood/movies theme.

We're playing all our old-timey hits during the cocktail hour.  All the music is posted in my bio.  :D

  • For the cocktail hour, we are having a jazz pianist play Vince Guarali's Charlie Brown Christmas suite; the whole thing, not just "Linus and Lucy."  I LOVE "Christmas Time Is Here."

For our first dance it's Ray Charles, "Georgia."

For the dance with my father, Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song."  It reminds me of Christmas at home in Detroit.  It's the first song on the album we always played while decorating the tree.

For the New Orleans-style parade procession to the reception (it's two blocks from the ceremony at Milwaukee's oldest Catholic church) a 5-piece band will play "Hail to the Victors," the University of MI fight song, and "I've got my love to keep me warm," and "Let it snow."

For our grand entrance the song that won best original score during this year's Oscars for the film "Up."  When we saw that movie, my FI fell in love with that song.  We didn't even know the title, but then we learned it's called "Married Life." That sealed the deal. :)
  • Our cocktail and dinner hour will be an eclectic mix of classic rock and old school jazz.

We're using Flightless Bird too! Using it as our WP processional :)

  • we totally played Glee at our wedding =) "Somebody to Love," during dinner.

Clealry we're dorks, since we both went to see Glee Live! At Radio City Music Hall on Saturday =)

Besides that, I told my DJ we wanted our cocktail nhour to have an old-timey "speakeasy" feel to it and gave him a list of upbeat 20s-40s songs we loved (lots of trumpet, lots of clarinet...).

I'm assuming he played them, but to be honest, I cannot recall the music from the cocktail hour one iota. Maybe we'll have to check the video =)
  • The Maple Leaf Rag! It will go so well with our old mansion venue. We are starting by playing late Victorian music and bringing guests through the decades.

  • i would have to say 1950's rock n' roll! but i'm using our song for the ceremony which is coheed and cambria's "wake up"
  • I'm mixing in music throughout the reception like some Frank Sinatra, Unchained Melody, Stardust, etc.  My "table numbers" are actually movies from the 40's, 50's, and 60's that feature weddings or are classic love stories and I'm pulling some songs from those as well.
  • My FI was pretty quick to suggest Kay Starr's "Side By Side". Its super cute, I think, and we'll be sprinkling in other Starr and Patsy Cline in the mix through out the night...
