In Need of Venue Help

Hi Ladies,
So I've recently run into the problem that I found a venue I like, but from a location standpoint is not very practical.  We recently visited Round Hill in Washingtonville, NY (http://feastcaterers.com/roundhill) and while I loved the the art deco/nouveau type mansion, it's rather rural location makes it difficult to work with when we have family traveling from all over CT and PA and need hotels for them to stay at.  Does anyone know of any venues in CT (preferably western CT)  or even the Rye/ New Rochelle area of NY that have that similar look and intimate feel?  We are looking at about 130ish guests and are hoping to keep the costs to around $100pp, though depending on what it includes could go a little higher.

Many Thanks!

The Lounsbury House in Ridgefield has a very similar exterior Georgian mansion look.  You can definitely fit 130 people in there, but you would need to be spread between a few different rooms to do it.  They have not altered the layout of the original inside space to make one giant room, since it's a historical building.  We had our wedding there and it was wonderful.  The only challenge is that you have to bring in your own vendors.  If you were looking for a one stop shop that will do everything for you, this isn't it.  I will say though, that it really wasn't hard to bring our own vendors.  Our caterer really ran the whole wedding along with our day of coordinator.  He also gave us recommendations for other vendors, so it was simple.  We didn't have to worry about a thing.  If you want more information about what we did and would like to see photos, PM me with your email address.  The location is easy to get to, and there are quite a large number of hotels within about a 10-15 minute drive from the venue.  Most of our guests were from out of town, and no one had any problems getting there or with finding somewhere to stay.  We had a hotel block at the Courtyard Marriott in Danbury.

You might also look at the Waveny House in New Canaan.  I don't know much about that location, but I believe you have to bring in your own vendors there too.

  • Our venue is has an art deco feel but it's in Hartford. We also have family coming from CT, PA, and OH.

  • I've heard great things about http://www.festivitiesevents.com. Not sure if they are within your price range though. There's also Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield, our reception was at the Waterview which is owned by the same caterer as Fox Hill Inn and we were extremely happy with them.
