NWR: omg, I am so sore people.

I normally go to a CrossFit gym pretty regularly, but with all the traveling I've had to do and thesis work at night, it has been irregular lately.  I'm pretty much always guaranteed to be sore after even a week hiatus.

I went on Tuesday, and the work out of the day (WOD) was 150 pushups at your own pace.  But every time you stopped to break, you had to do a series of other workouts, then resume your counting.  I only had to break 4 times and 25% of them I did on my toes.

But today - 3 days later - I am in pure pain!  I cannot bend my elbows more than 90 degrees.  I can barely bring a spoon to my mouth to eat my soup, wipe my nose, move a hair out of my face, or arrange my glasses.  At times I'm on the verge of tears!  I'm allergic to anti-inflammatories, and this Tylenol I took isn't touching it.

I hope it's better tomorrow, the pain has never lasted THIS long!

  • Lol you sound like me 3 weeks ago when I started back up kickboxing.  Just take some ibuprofen and keep going!!  You will feel better in another day.

  • ibuprofen = anti-inflammatories = anaphlylactic shock for ginadog!

  • haha I'm sorry that I just had a laugh at your expense but I can totally understand your pain. I take a cardio kickboxing class and every time we switch up the routine, I am sore for days afterward, especially my butt and hamstrings - the kind of sore where you have to lower yourself onto the toilet haha. It takes me over a month to finally get used to it!

  • When I first started working out with my trainer, I was sore to the point that I couldn't even walk, it was horrible.  I find stretching constantly helps, as well as eating extra protein and drinking tons of water.

Also, 150 pushups??? YIKES.  I finally just mastered burpees haha

Oh man!  That was last week's soreness!  I think I may have to stop going just until this thesis is written (shooting for end of this month!) because this weekly intermittent stuff is killing me.

I do look quite funny.  I bring my arm up at 90 degrees and then I have to stick out my face forward to meet my fingers  LOL
  • I have no advice, but that sounds miserable! I can't imagine a life without anti-inflammatories. This is probably not healthy, but I definitely take Advil almost every day for various pains/aches.

Can you at least relax tonight? I hope so!

  • Bridetobe, what kind of aches and pains do you have on a daily basis?
  • Oh that's sounds really painful. I would try and stretch a bit maybe that would help or put ice/heating pad on it.  Not sure what you would really stretch though since its your elbows...

    Anniversary
  • People it's WORSE today!  Day 4.  OMG, yesterday was funny, but today has brought me to tears before I even got out of bed.

What a fitful night I had.  My arms hurt just to lay on my back with my arms straight.  I was getting heartburn so that means I have to lie on my side and that was very difficult.  I ended up sitting halfway upright with two stacked pillows.

Then I realized my arms were bending even LESS.  My right arm bends only 10 degrees now and is useless (well I can type with my arms out in front of me, but I have to rest them often).  My left probably 70 degrees.  FI had to wash my face fo rme, put a pony tail in my hair for me and tie my robe closed.  He already had plans to ski today, so I'm probably just going to stay in my robe and PJs all day since I cannot get dressed!

I cannot stretch because I can barely move them.  It's like the tricep area just above the elbow (not the actual elbow).  I will try ice later today.  My flexi freezer packs are in the freezer now.
