Bridesmaid Dress Conundrum

I posted this on the A&A board, but I trust my June brides more. I think I may be overthinking this, but it's MY wedding! Lol. This is a tad long, my apologies.

My girls chose this dress in the short:

I only realized we had a problem when the first girl down the aisle in in pistachio, then fuchsia, fuchsia, and my MOH in pistachio might look a tad funny. I also think the hot pink and the pastel fuchsia is clashing.

I just saw a pic on my news feed with a bridesmaid in this dress wearing my two colors and thought this could be a solution.

The only problem I'm having with the pistachio is I really had envisioned lime green with orange flowers and having fucshia be an extra accent/pop of color. I'm just having trouble finding a lime green bridesmaid dress.

My recently wed cousin/bridesmaid has my back and has been scouring the internet the last 48 hrs. The dress below we both like since it is simple and it has a matching back to my dress.

The other option is to have them all wear pink and take green out of the wedding color scheme and just have it been tangerine and fuchsia. The girls will be carrying orange gerbera daisies and roses.

We won't be having a flower girl- only a ring bearer and he's matching my FI.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Conundrum

  • I kinda stink at the whole putting colors together thing. Mrsk actually helped with decide on blush. So I'm just going to tell you that I LOVE the first dress. The color and style of it and might possibly show my BMs it.

Can you change the order they walk down the aisle or who wears what color dress to accomodate not having to change your colors? Lime green is a tough color to find. You could always have them in lime green shoes and use it as an accent color with fuschia and tangerine as the main colors. Hot colored shoes are pretty in right now (which is good, my girls will be in hot orange shoes!) or you can get dyables. That kiwi color is kind of lime-ish in the picture, not sure how it actually looks in person though.

I also really love the first one and I'd love to put my girls in a short version of it!

  • For that very reason, not finding the right shade of green (that also wouldn't take my girls broke) is why I removed it from my wedding altogether.  I figured that if this would be a problem, so would linens, and ribbons, and stationary font colors, and any other decor would be too.

So I went from yellow and green to yellow and navy blue :-)  Everyone has Navy blue.  And in your case, everyone will have fuschia.

  • Sugarfoote- I'm feeling the same way about colors. My original colors were tangerine and lime and then I saw a color scheme paintswatch on here and decided to add fucshia.

Cnf- I know tradition goes the first girl to walk down is the one who isn't as close with the bride, which is my FI's sister. Then it's a friend, my cousin, and my MOH. The green is very light in person.

Ashlidie- that's how I'm feeling. If I can't find it, how am I matching ribbons and candles, etc. I know I can find lime green shoes.

The dress is very popular my consultant told me especially in black and that charcoal grey. I do like the dress, just trying to figure out the colors. I know orange and fucshia would look great together and I am sure using the lime as an accent would look amazing as well.
  • I love the tangerine/fuschia/lime green color combo. I agree with cnf, maybe do lime shoes? What about adding some bright green flowers to the bouquets?
  • I was also thinking you could add green to the flowers and other small touches of the wedding. Maybe like on table numbers if you are using them or perhaps the linens.
I think that's what I will end up doing with the blue. The BM's are wearing purple dresses, the flowers will be mainly purples and greens and I will add blue into other touches like table numbers, maybe ther linens etc.

  • Ash I'm having similar issues finding lime green things for the wedding. Our colors are chocolate, lime and tangerine. I'm going to have my BM wear a chocolate dress with tangerine shoes and flowers but I can't figure out how to incorporate the lime without making it over the top. I was thinking a sash but can't find the right color so now I'm thinking some kind of lime necklace or other smaller accessories just for a touch of that color. Thankfully all of the colors work well with the candy bar we're doing for the favors!

  • Bar, if you know anyone who can sew, and you can find fabric in the shade of green you want, sashes are super easy to make.
  • I'm in a wedding next week and the order we walk down the aisle has nothing to do with how close we are to the bride. They actually had to put us by height, the tallest walks down the aisle first and stands at the end. Apparently it looks better in pictures? If you change your order to go by height does it help with the dress colors?

I agree with Emily, fuschia, tangerine and lime are going to look awesome together but lime green is hard to find. Would you be open to changing the lime green slightly and making it apple? I've seen a bunch of things in apple green including dresses. If you do it as an accent it would still bring in the green and go well with the tangerine and fuchsia. I really like the second dress, could you have that in fuchsia with a tangerine sash and have your MOH the opposite? And have your girls carry flowers with lots of green in them maybe with a green wrap around them?

  • Keep pistachio or just take it out. I think it would look ok

  • Emily my mom's cousin is actually a seamstress so I could have her do them for me. Thanks for that because it didn't even occur to me to have her do it. But would it be too much with a chocolate dress, and tangerine shoes & flowers?

  • I'd be okay changing height for pictures, but my girls are very close in height. FI sis is the shortest and the MOH has to stand by me so it doesn't change anything. Great idea though!

I can tie the lime in with jewelry, shoes (we were thinking black any style), bridal party flowers (I think I'm going for ivory roses for mine), wire ribbon the lime green with either pink or orange on the mason jars for a bow and part of the favors (I'm currently toying with the ideas of cake pops w/o the sticks!). I'd just have tangerine and fucshia as the main and have the lime be an accent.

I did find this dress though that I really like that is for the Spring 13 line. I'm curious to see if they will also have my tangerine color. AA's tangelo is too light.
