Bake Me a Cake vs. Glacia Cakes

I went cake tasting and we love their designs and flavors and everything! They are awesome until...you get that wonderful email giving you the price tag. I went around to a couple of places and while they are the most expensive they were the most... shall I say "competent" people to make my cake.

They other one I like and was the cheapest did not get good reviews. :-/ so I am nervous about going there the flavors were just as good but not so sure about the their ability. However, Bake me a cake quoted me $650 where as Glacia Cakes quoted me $250. (only a 50 person wedding).

Any one have any opinions/ suggestions on other bakers in the Orlando area?

We were at Bake me a Cake and yes while they are fabulous their price reflects it! We loved "Its Tasty Too" and they quoted us 1/2 of what Bake Me a Cake did, for the same exact design. Actually Tasty understood what I meant when I said Celtic knot.

If you are looking to keep the cost down check out Its Tasty Too, although some girls have said she can be bad at returning messages, I had no problem and loved her and cakes when we met, as did FI.

I haven't picked my cake vendor yet, but I know that Michael Anthony can do some pretty awesome things and his cakes taste good too. It sounds like you're looking for something special/somewhat complicated. The best tasting cake I've tried so far was from Cakes by Design, but they didn't seem like they were too creative with the look of the cake. The Sugar Suite seemed to have some really cool designs and a neat design process. Anna Cakes, Its Tasty Too and Eve's Cakes regularly get great reviews on here. I know those last three all start around $3.50 a slice. I think Sugar Suite is about $125 a tier. Good luck!

Just did a quick google search and if you mean Glacie Cakes, it says they are closed. They were owned by the same lady who screwed all the girls over on their dresses at Savannah Grace Bridal.

I'm using the Sugar Suite. She is PHENOMENAL! My cake design sketches are in my Bio and she has a tasting coming up. My 4 tier monster cake is $500 (150 person wedding) so I'm sure something smaller would be more reasonable.

I second Heather with It's Tasty Too! I have had no issues what-so-ever with communication..She has even let me come in for 3 tastings! She is definitely the least expensive in town, but has awesome quality! She got the design we wanted from the beginning and has put up with all of our tweaks here and there..Yummmmm, wedding cakeee :]

Don't DON'T DON'T use Glacie Cakes. Ash is right, the woman who scammed everyone at Savannah Grade Bridal & stole girls money without ever delivering their dresses also owns Glacie Cakes. Who knows how long this new business will last? We are using Eve's Cakes. She had the BEST prices ($400 for 150 people - 4 tier buttercream cake) but obviously we haven't seen the final product. Good luck!

Heather from It's Tasty too is great, she made both the wedding cake (150 servings) and groom's cake for about $400. They were delicious and beautiful. And she bakes you a free cake on you 1 year anniversary.

Wow, BOTH of those for $400?? What an awesome deal! I'm jealous! lol

I would also recommend Michael Anthony Cakes.  He has great designs and his cakes are amazing.  I think he is charging us for about 150 people what Bake Me a Cake is charging you for 50 people.

We had tastings at both It's Tasty Too and Cut the Cake.  Cut the Cake's flavors were amazing - they have been great to deal with too!

I just went to Glacie Cakes last week because I was craving a cupcake and I think Sweet!'s cupcakes are waaay too sweet and yes, they are CLOSED. There is a sign on the front that said due to the media saying they were closed when they were not really did make them close due to lack of sales or something like that. I'm sure it was also due to the fact they were partnered with Savannah Grace that also caused them to close!

Other than that.. i don't really have any cake recommendations.. sorry! I haven't done that search yet myself.

I heard about Savannah Grace closing and screwing everyone out of their money, but I never though Glacie Cakes partnered with them! Guess its a good think I didn't order my cake there! I will definitely check our you suggestions! thanks!
