Riviera Maya - which resort to choose???

So I have never been to an AI, or on any real vacation for that matter.  FI and I have narrowed it down to 3 choices, which are:  El Dorado Seaside Suites, Excellence Riviera, and Valentin Imperial Maya.

Have any of you been to any and/or all of these that can help me choose?  I am so lost, and my wedding is May 19th so I need to make a decision and book it now, especially before gas goes up to $5/gallon!  TIA!

Re: Riviera Maya - which resort to choose???

  • have you been to tripadvisor.com? what are the differences in price/amenities/do they include transfers to and from airport? are they private or shared? all important questions...

  • All of the prices are about the same, and include transfers.  My friend's aunt is a travel agent so she is doing the leg work for us, but now we need to make a decision.  Yes, I have lived on tripadvisor.com, the reviews are good at all of them.  We had made a decision to go to Aventura Spa Palace, but then I looked at the reviews again right before we were going to book it, and I found out they are in transition to becoming a Hard Rock, so we decided not to go there.
  • There are a few girls on here that went to the Valentin Imperial Maya. They all loved it. I had a picture of the outside and it looked pretty amazing.

  • I stayed at the El Dorado Seaside Suites in October.  We absolutely loved it, and would go back in a heart beat.  Very highly recommended!  The restaurants and food were amazing, and so many choices.  Their staff were great.  I can't say enough good things!  I have my pictures on my facebook if you're intersted, PM me and I'll send you the link!
  • I was at Aventura in May and had an amazing time. I can't say enough about the great staff and choice off restaurants. The great thing is we got a $1500 credit when we went, which I think they are still offering. We were able to use it for spa services, swimming with the dolphins, zip lining, room upgrades and photo packages. I would go back in a heart beat but we will be trying the sister resort in the DR which is a hard rock next May. Good luck making your decision.Smile
  • We went to Excellence Riviera for our honeymoon and had the most amazing time! We booked an Excellence Club Ocean View Room and they treated us like kings and queens.  We loved it so much we went to Excellence Playa Mujeres for our first anniversary.  I highly recommend!
