Rent a home for my wedding/reception?

Anyone know of where i can find a beautiful home to hold my wedding/recetion? I'm trying to save money and thought this way would save a lot of money. Anyone else looked into this??

Be careful... my brother and his fiancee originally went this route. They booked a residence in Flagstaff for their wedding. A month and a half after they submitted the deposit, they got a letter from the owner saying the house was in forclosure. Fortunately, they got their deposit back, but they had to find a new venue. As a side note, price out table and chair rentals. You may not save much if you have to rent everything. Sorry, didn't mean to be Debbie Downer.

I agree with PP, I highly doubt renting a home would save money.  All the other items you'll need to rent, chairs to plates, plus the stress of coordinating all the deliveries would probably make it not worth it.
But if you figure out a way to make it work I would love to hear about it.  :-)

Hello. My photographer actually recommended a wedding site for me and it is a private residence. They have been holding weddings there since March 2011. It is called Casa Bella and if you look up their website they have picture online. The couple rents it out and I emailed them and they emailed me back right away with how much it would cost. It looks beautiful. Check it out!

I went to vrbo.com for vacation home rentals and found an awesome reception site in Paradise Valley; a mansion with 8 bedrooms, beautiful scenery and great backyard for the dinner. Even though we are renting everything (tables, linens, chairs, etc) we now have 8 rooms for people to stay in which saves a lot of money. And it is only 1000.00 a night to rent out, whereas as the nice venues want 6k or 7k just to use their spot for 8 hours.

We thought about this too.  We started looking a vaction home websites.  When we called a few homes we found interesting, they said they wouldn't rent to u so for this purpose because the neighbors would get upset.
