How much are you paying for your hair??

I don't know what is "normal".  I received a quote of $150, that includes a "trial" and she'll come to me.  Is that reasonable?

Thats pretty inexpensive, especially if she is coming to you and including a trial. If the work is good, i say go for it. If you need any other recommendations, I know tons of hair/makeup people in Atlanta - two that own their salons- and would be happy to email you some contacts.

Mine was $50 for the trial, and $70 for day of with me going to her salon.  That's not including 20% tip both times.

PS you might consider making your trial on a day you can use the updo - I had mine on the day of my bachelorette party.

How far does she have to go? If she's traveling to you twice (trial and day of) and you only have to pay the one time then I'd say that's a fairly reasonable amount. It all depends on how much you like the woman. You could probably shop around and get it cheaper, but if it's someone youv'e used before and you really like her then I'd stick wtih her.

Wait, so......how does a trial work? What if you happen to HATE the way the hair you wanted? Do you need another trial? --sorry for the hijack. I'm still in the early planning phases and any knowledge you guys have, I'm storing away for next year =)

Well here's the thing about the hair trial - you should go in with some idea of what you want, and preferably pictures of it from google or something.  Then as she's styling it you can make changes on the fly, take it down and put it back up, etc. until you're pretty happy with it.  It doesn't have to be exactly perfect at the end of the trial.  Just make mental notes that for the wedding day you want the part a little more to the side, or the curls higher, blah blah blah.

If you completely hate it and feel like the person is not doing at all what you want, I would go to another hair dresser.  That would mean paying for another trial etc.  But I think the person would have to be pretty bad if they can't get anything close to what you like.  Either that or you are being unrealistic or have chosen something that doesn't work with your hair.

i'm going to my regular hairdresser... and she's doing it out of the salon, all my money's going to her and none to them.
it'll be $50 for both. plus tip.
it think it would be more if i wanted an up-do, but i don't.
