Tipping for makeup and hair trials

Thanks to all of you telling me not to wait, I have makeup trials scheduled this week with Jillyan Scarpa and Jeanine Mangan.  What is the tipping etiquette for the trials?  There is a fee for each trial, and one is at the salon and the other at her house (I think). 

And what if the trial is FREE?  I found another MUA who doesn't charge for the trial, but then the day-of is more expensive ($200). 

Also, has anyone had trials with both Jillyan and Jeanine?  Is there really a difference between makeup artists' techniques?  Should I be looking for anything specific?

    I had a trial with Jillyan and didn't tip. Then had a trial with Gina Brozon and tipped $10. For me, it just depended how happy I was with the trial. But its definitely not required.

    I did not tip - the fee for the trial was high enough.

    I tipped, but I am known to over tip. . trial was $50 with Jillyan and I gave $20 bc I had trials before this and was so happy this time she took to show me some techniques and what makeup she was using. Ive since used her 3 times for other occasions including tonight for my second round of e-photos. Good luck.

    EDIT: I previously had my makeup trial done at an aveda salon and wasnt happy and didnt tip

    At both trials I tipped the hair person 10 bucks but not the makeup artist b/c she was the owner.

    I didn't tip either because the prices were so high just for trials! I will definitely compensate on the wedding day

    I had a trial and booked with Jeanine Mangan. I was happy with her so I didn't go elsewhere so I don't know how the style differs from makeup people.

    Who is Jilliyan??  Can someone point me in the direction of a website or pass along more information as to where she is located, pricing, etc?

    I am using Jeanine Mangan, I didn't go for a trial because I booked her right after se did my makeup for a friends wedding and she was AMAZING! I knew right away I had to have her for my wedding.

    Jillyan Scarpa is from Skin Bar and Paint in Little Falls.
