Hair budget?

I honestly have no clue how much to budget for getting my hair done.. I have long hair (several inches passed my elbows) and I want it curled using curlers not a curling iron because my hair will not keep a curl for more than five minutes with a curling iron no matter how much hair spray or what ever you use. I went to school for a year for cosemetology and have had even the teachers try to curl my hair with a curling iron because they did not believe me when I told them that. Trust me, it just won't work.

So to get my hair in curlers and then styled in a half up do, how much should I budget? Taking into consideration that I will not be going to some super fancy place, probably just a small local salon.

Re: Hair budget?

  • You have to shop around and ask for the pricing. Every salon/stylist have different price range and that's common. They also have different prices depending what you want done.

I'm paying around 75 for an updo. If I was getting half up and half down it would be 60.

I would ask your local board for some recs and also what you can expect to pay, as it varies greatly.

  • Definitely look at your local boards. Updos seem to range from $50-100 approximately.

Have you ever had your air put up in curlers before? I'm guessing that you have since you say you took a cosmo course, and while curlers definitely keep the curl longer than an iron, your hair may still fall a bit flat as the day goes on.
  • Yes I have, and it the curl does fall out a bit, but it will keep a loose curl for the entire day. My hair will litterealy fall flat with an iron though.. like a curl was never even there....
