Anyone going Vintage/Rustic? Need ideas!

If your theme is vintage/rustic... I'd love to see some of your ideas!  I've been compiling ideas in my head and I thought I was rustic until someone on another board (thank you!) suggested I might be more vintage.  So maybe I'm both!!  Mostly I'm having trouble with the stationary aspect of it all... STDs, invites.  Here is a small inspiration board I threw together:

Re: Anyone going Vintage/Rustic? Need ideas!

  • I originally was until we moved our date up to May. I dont have any of my inspirations anymore, I started clearing out my bookmarks. So sorry I am no help right now.
  • Glad to see you came over!  :)  If you take a look at the top stickies there will be a whole list of Bio's you can look at for ideas.  Also, most link their Bio's in their signatures (like mine) Great way to start getting ideas... GL!

When I think of "vintage rustic" I think mason jars, burlap runners, wildflowers, lemonade, anything that gives it an old-fashioned country feel. You can probably google rustic vintage and find STD and invite ideas.

  • I picture lots of wood and natural elements, with lace and broaches and everything that ledalia said

  • I definitely feel like I am doing a vintage/rustic wedding since we are getting married in a barn. Check out my bio!
  • Thank you so much for your ideas, I love them all!  And I'm definitely going to check out bios now!
  • mine is for sure vintage/rustic. I have all of the above listed. Mason jars, lace, doilies, wood, burlap runners, lemonade :)
  • I think vintage/rustic is the best term for it.  We are doing a ton of mason jars...they will be used for the centerpieces on the tables with wildflowers in them.  Some of the jars will have objects in them that pertain to us as a couple. I also found mason jar mugs for my favors. We are even doing our unity sand ceremony with mason jars! We are doing the glass old fashioned coke bottles at the reception as well.

  • Oh and Minted.com has a beautiful wedding invite that was recently added with a mason jar on it, it's called Fireflies.
  • We just had our vintage/rustic wedding! I'll have more detail pictures soon(I hope). I made burlap table runners. I also collected various things for the tablescapes(milk glass, vintage silver cups, skeleton keys, etc) I loved the way everything looked.
  • You can find quite a few ideas at this blog:

Her misspelled words drive me a little crazy (come on, use a blog editor that has spell check!) but she has some good ideas and pictures.

If you're a DIY type, you can find a ton of supplies at http://www.save-on-crafts.com.

Our colors are brown (espresso) and white, and my FI is a hunter/fisherman/outdoorsy type (although I am VERY INdoorsy!) so I'm doing some rustic/cabin/outdoor elements at the reception for him.  Our centerpieces are going to be tall vases with rocks in the bottom and birch branches and some tall white flowering branches (forgot the name!).  I'm using different types of lanterns for candleholders, and lots of string lights and candlelight.

Even though the wedding is at 5:30PM, our reception food will be a breakfast buffet featuring a gourmet pancake bar (there's a story behind that - when FI was at graduate school at Virginia Tech, we ended up eating pancakes a lot on Friday evening when I would go visit for the weekend, due to his lack of groceries and my lack of energy for cooking after the trip.  So once he said, "Other couples have a song - we'll have a food, and it will be pancakes!"  So we're having a lot of different kinds of pancakes - blueberry, banana-walnut, chocolate chip, etc. - with a lot of different toppings.)

I'm also trying to find an old windowpane/screen to put behind the cake table - cake pictures can be boring if there's just a plain wall behind you!  And I plan to hang some smaller lanterns with flameless candles from the screen when I do find it.

This is my first post here, though I've been lurking and reading for months, so I'm sorry if I'm rambling and sharing too much information!

    Good luck!
