Has anybody ever used Wen "shampoo"?

Just curious.  I was flipping channels earlier and the infomercial was on TV.  Has anybody out there used this stuff?  And if so, how often do you use it?

Re: Has anybody ever used Wen "shampoo"?

  • I tried it a while back and thought it worked okay, but I think it works better on some hair types than others.

I work out a lot and my hair gets very oily so I didn't feel like it always got it clean.  Plus I have to wash my hair every day and using WEN every day can get expensive.
  • I just bought it last month. I got the Almond Mint starter kit and I really like it. I have fine, curly, semi-oily hair and it leaves my hair a lot more manageable. Plus the curls are bit more orderly. It feels minty & tingly on my scalp.

Thing is, you have to use A LOT! It comes in a big bottle, but you have to use 8-12 pumps each wash (due to the oil, I don't wash every day, so it's not so bad for me). That means that you will go through a bottle pretty quickly. Also, just like Proactiv, when you purchase a kit, they automatically enroll you in a refill service. So 30 days after, they'll charge you & send you a 3 month supply, then repeat every 3 months. You can change the frequency of the supplies, except for the first 30 day supply. You can call and cancel your membership to avoid that. Just remember to do it! I did and had no problem.

I really like it, and will probably purchase it again. I do want to try Ouidad first, since that is for curly hair, before committing to Wen.
  • Check out QVC.com. They have all the scents including seasonal ones and great prices.  You can even purchase variety kits where you get several different scents/hair types so you know which will work best for you. Also you don't have to do an every 30 day auto purchase.

I have fine hair and have been using lavender for a couple of years now. My hair has lots of shine and volume now. I've tried a couple of the other scents but find the lavender best for my hair typle

Tip: use lots of cool water for rinsing.
  • I've used it! I really liked it - I have very thick hair and I normally have to use a detangling spray after I wash it - with Wen I don't have to do that. I used it for a few months this summer, and my hair actually has a better texture after using regular shampoo now. I will go back to it when I get around to it. :)

  • I've been using Wen cleansing conditioner for about 5 months now, and I won't go back to "normal" shampoo/conditioner. My hair is much healthier, both to the touch and to the eye. I've used both the fig and the ginger pumpkin spice, and I just ordered the special Winter scent as well. You do have to use approximately 8-10 pumps, so you do go through it, but it's so worth it (in my experience, anyway). I've been dying my hair since I was 13 (that's over 10 years of hair dye!), and Wen makes my hair look and feel soft and healthy. I highly recommend it:)

  • I recommend it!  but be sure to try out different varieties as some are better for different hair types.  QVC has the discovery kits which have like 4 or 5 ones for you to try out for like $40.  I did that like 7yrs ago when i first started using it and i found the tea tree to be amazing.  I just bought the pumpkin ginger and thats my new fav, smells amazing and leaves my hair super shiney.  the sweet almond and cucumber varieties didnt suit me but i have family that swear by those.  I just bought a holiday set for my aunts, mom, and MOH which has full sizes of 5 of them, it was a big hit last year so Im hoping for a repeat.  The stuff is free of lots of harsh chemicals and wont leav your hair frizzy.  If you are new to the system i recommend watching the little DVD that comes with it and like PP said rising with cool water.  The 20 pump thiing is ridiculous...i only use like 4 or five and repeat so maybe 10 pumps total and i have longer hair.  I make sure to add a little water so i can scrub good and detangle faster.

Best of luck and happy planning!

  • I use WEN too, and I absolutely love it.  I generally have dry hair and with WEN my hair comes out perfectly moisturized without having to use additional products.  Like pp said, make sure you get the scent that is most closely meant for you hair type.
