Good Morning Ladies!!
It's time for Martha Who Monday but before we get into this week's project, let's share a photo of your favourite DIY wedding project to date. What have you already made that you just love and that you are so excited for friends and family to see? If you haven't made anything or have a "dream" favourite DIY project, let's see it! Don't forget to explain why it's your fave
Now it's time to focus on this week's project....
Pomanders and/or Kissing Balls
What are they and where do they come from?
The Pomander which is also knows as the kissing ball originated in England during the Middle Ages. It was made of evergreens and it was hung over the door way, like mistletoe, serving as an omen for good will. Just like everything else, it evolved with addition of lavender and rosemary which signified loyalty and devotion; the "kissing ball" began to symbolize romance. With romance being the main idea behind pomanders, it is no surprise that they are now used in weddings as modern flower arrangements.
There are so many different ways to create a pomander. When I first considered attempting this DIY project, I did a lot of googling and came across a variety of tutorials using many different types on materials; crepe paper, silk flowers, tulle, and even muffin liners! It's a fairly easy project and can be used for not only weddings but to add decor to any special occasion. Below you will find links to tutorials for various styles of pomanders.
