Wedding Inspiration (antique wedding, eco-friendly disposable eatery, flowers, etc)

Hey ladies,

I am getting married in March (or May, but we all know how hot it is in May, so I am keeping my fingers crossed on March!) of 2012 and am doing an outdoor reception. We plan on having an early evening wedding reception with an antique theme. My grandma used to own an antique store so I will be using a lot of her cake platters, vases, boxes, bottles, etc. to add a special touch to the reception. But I digress. Anyways, just thought I would share with you guys some tips I have!

For the kids, if you are having an outdoor reception, instead of kids tables, why not quilts on the grass? Obviously this would not be appropriate for kids who were under five just due to messiness issues, but my wedding will have kids aged primarily 5 and up. Also, I plan on having antique birds printed on some really cheap linen paper I found online for the kids to color.

If you think it won't stress you out too much, you should consider doing your own flowers! I know it is a bit risky, but it is well worth the savings in the end--especially if you have a little extra time to watch some videos on YouTube or don't mind a "messier" or relaxed flower set up. For me personally, I am using a lot of different antique vases/bottles and am using cottage roses from a really affordable (and reputable) online flower website. Message me if you would like the link! :)

Also, if you plan on cutting down some costs and didn't want to rent plates, silveware, glasses, etc. and are having a more casual atmosphere, I found some really awesome disposable eatery that is made out of recycled plastic and other fibers. I think you can get them at Whole Foods, but google them and I am sure they will come up. Again, if you want the link I found, you may message me.

Last, but not least, here are just some pretty pictures to look at!

I feel like we are the same person. Not even kidding. For my wedding, we're doing a ton of antiques mixed with cool flower filled teacups for centerpeices and we did our own silk flowers. I was completely against silk flowers until my mom made a beautiful vintage bouquet with peonies, hydrangeas, and ranunculus. It looked so real! Hobby Lobby has the BEST silk flowers and they are half off every other week! So happy to find someone with my same taste!

oh!! i need to go look for the ranunculus. i keep flip-flopping on whether or not i want to still do them. i am kind of leaning towards garden roses now. i am in love with the antique theme, actually, today i just visited my grandmother's and found SO many awesome milk glass vases and antique bottles that i will be able to use. i cannot wait. when and where are you getting married if you don't mind me asking?
