FitBit/BodyBugg

My first dress fitting is in 1 month, and although I've been exercising and trying to eat better, I still haven't lost any weight.  I was considering buying a fitbit or bodybugg type of thing to track what i burn and wanted to know if anyone has one and if they like it?  I'm prefering the fitbit because it's less expensive and its being showcased on myfitnesspal.

Re: FitBit/BodyBugg

  • What have you been doing to eat better?

How many calories per day do you eat vs what you think you burn?
  • I have a BodyBug and it really helps keep you accountable. You still have to log your calories manually, but then it tracks how many you burn. You aren't able to slack in a workout and tell yourself you rocked it, because your calories will show that you slacked off.

But to be honest, once you've had it for a while you pretty much know how many calories you burn doing what (ie cleaning, running, working out, having a lazy day, on normal days at work) so you wouldn't necessarily need to keep wearing it or using it because you can pretty accurately calculate and estimate what you are burning. Plus to use it you have to have a monthly online subscription which is an extra cost to think about.
  • i've been using myfitnesspal for a few months and my daily calorie target has been set between 1300 and 1400. on MFP it says that for my height and current weight i burn 1750 from daily activity, so i should be losing atleast a half pound per week.  i've also been doing jillian michaels 30 day shred video every day for about a month and a half.  one problem i do have is that i like my soda. i don't ever have more than one per day, but i do know i should cut it out completely.

I'm wanting to get a bodybugg or fitbit so i have a more accurate idea of what i burn, so if i need to i can adjust my calorie target.

  • I cracked and bought a FitBit today (I've wanted one for a couple of months) - I'll have to post my review of it when it arrives :)

  • I wear a body bugg. its nice to see the calories i burn doing every day activities and then when i do actual workouts. i lost about 40 pounds in 6 months (before i started wearing the armband) and have basically been at a plateau for almost a year.  those first 6 months were so successful for me because i tracked everything i ate and i worked up to getting 300 minutes of moderate activity in every week. that is key to success.  the activity is helpful for weight maintenance, but the key is to cut the food.  ive been at a plateau because i havent been reaching my target activity minutes and ive become more lax about sticking to my calorie goal.  so personally it hasnt helped me that much, but it could be more helpful for others.
