Has anyone gone to Stardust with a small budget?

My budget is around $1500 and when I went to Lulu's today, they recommended that I make an appointment with Stardust because they have tons of gowns in my price range. I always heard that Stardust was really expensive so I wanted to know how big their selection was for small budgets.

Re: Has anyone gone to Stardust with a small budget?

  • I went to Terry Costa and they had a GREAT selection of 800-1200 gowns!
I actually went on a weekend where all wedding dresses were 20% off, so I got my Allure Bridal gown normally 1100 for well under a thousand!
  • I didn't find anything at Terry Costa and they had very little in my price range, actually. Most of the dresses seemed to be close to 2k.
  • I would trust LuLu's....they would know if Stardust had a lot of dresses or not.  We are getting our tuxes at Stardust and they seem to be extremely helpful.  I'm sure if you called and asked Stardust they would be able to tell you more.
  • I got my dress at Mii's in Dallas.

I myself am not a fan of Terry Costa, even though I know lots of girls here had great success. I just didn't have that great of an experience there.
  • LuLu's owns Stardust, so I imagine they would know.

My dress was around $1200 at Mockingbird Bridal, and they had tons of dresses under $1500 (under $1000, even).

  • I've been to Mii's and Mockingbird but didn't find anything I liked. I figured Lulu's would know about Stardust, but I just wanted to see if anyone else went there with a small budget. Hopefully they have something awesome for me!
  • How about Bridal Co. in Allen?

I got my Maggie dress there for $800, originally $1800. The majority of their dresses are <2k.

  • I think you can find gowns there in that range.  I found a gown at Terry Costa but then found it online for a 1/4 the price before I was able to go back in the store and buy it during the trunk show.

  • Just an idea though: My best friend got married in 2010. Her dress was $1700 at Stardust and it was one of the cheapest in the store.

  • My budget was the same as yours and when I tried going to Stardust last fall, I was extremely disappointed. It's a huge store with a million beautiful gowns, but after I told them my $1500 budget, the consultant gave me just 2 or 3 small racks to choose from. Not a happy feeling. I ended up purchasing my gown from Lewisville Bridal Boutique. Not sure where you're located, but Lewisville was a bit of a drive for me, and totally worth it. They have a huge selection and awesome prices.
  • You might also try Anonymously Yours. They are a consignment shop, but some of their dresses are brand new sample dresses/dresses that brides changed their mind on that haven't been worn and still have tags. They have tons of dresses within your price range.

I've also heard really good things about the Lewisville Bridal Boutique. My cousin got her dress there and was very happy with the price, service and selection.

BTW, I think it's really sad that $1,500 is a small budget for a dress in today's market!  But there are beautiful dresses to be found if you know where to look. :) I got mine second-loved for less than $500.
  • Stardust/Lulu's also owns an off-the-rack place.  I can't remember what it's called but I think it's in Plano.  In retrospect, I wish I had gone there.  I got a beautiful gown at Lulu's for $1200 but it would be nice to already have my dress instead of waiting on shipping, etc!

  • I also bought my dress at Lewisville Bridal Boutique and would highly reccomend them, great variety and range of price. I went to Stardust and also told them a budget of $1500 and the selections were sparse...and the experience just wasn't that great.
  • YES! I went into Stardust with pretty much an 1000 budget for my dress - the entire first floor is dresses from 1000 - 2000, I believe. I know the first floor is the cheaper dresses. I LOVED the experience, and the dresses. I had Wendy as my consultant and she could not have made it a more wonderful experience for me. When I "said yes to the dress" she opened up the shop early for me, and gave my mom, sister and I a glass of champagne to celebrate. (One of my favorite wedding planning moments ever!) I definitely recommend Stardust, just let them know you are on a tighter budget and would like to shop the bottom floor only - they wont even tempt you with dresses out of your price range. They also made my appointment for me same day after my Christmas-time engagement. Wonderful experience, and I walked out of there paying just over 2000 including all undergarments, veil, accessories, dress etc. Just be honest on your budget and I do not think you would regret going :)
