s/o travel agents

In addition to travel agents, make sure you also purchase trip insurance! We were just on vacation in St. Martin in October. We were supposed to fly home on 10/30, but our flights were cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy. We couldn't get a flight home until 3 days later. Our travel insurance is picking up the tab for the extra hotel nights, car rental, and all our meals. So happy we bought it! (we always do for trips involving airfare)

  • Yes ours was through Allianz. They offer trip delay coverage - we weren't sure either until we got home from our trip and realized the delay coverage included weather (we thought for sure it wouldn't be covered because it was a storm).

That is a great story! Very important for sure.
We booked our insurance through Insuremytrip.com because they had a list of companies and prices and what it covered. I would be curious if our insurance we booked had that included though.

Edit: I did have it! I was just curious and checked. And it did say storms would be covered.
    Travel Delay 8+ hours
    $200/day; $1,000 max.
