My friend who got married last fall recently told us the one thing she wishes they had done was have an engagement party. How late is too late for an engagement party? Is it something that should be done right after the proposal, or just sometime before the wedding? My FI and I have been engaged several months now, but are not getting married until summer 2012. If we had one this summer, would that be too late since we will have been engaged for a while?

    I think since your engagment is longer...that it's okay to have one this summer. Me and my fiance got engaged in October and are having ours next month. good luck!

    Usaually I would say an e-party should be within 3 months of the engagement, but I also think because you have a long engagement doing one this summer would be fine, too. Youll still be a year out from the wedding so the 2 events aren't too close and it would be a nice way to get everyone together.

    Just keep in mind that everyone invited needs to invited to the wedding, so make sure that your guest list is set.
