26 days out and I get....

the chicken pox. Yes that's right. The chicken pox.  Worst luck ever!  I have to deal with the CDC tomorrow when my blood work comes back. Since adults aren't supposed to get chicken pox and my case is rare, my doctor has to report it.  Depending on how that goes, I might be out of work for 6-10 days, unpaid of course.  I am so upset.  My parents are worried because chicken pox in adults can quickly lead to other very serious health issues.  My mom keeps calling to check up on me.

And to top it off, some of FI's family hasn't rsvped yet because we schedule our wedding the same weekend as a Michigan football game.  What the is that?  They are playing U Mass.  It's not even a big game.  I could understand them being upset if it were against OSU or Penn State, but it's freaken U Mass which is why we picked that weekend.  Not to mention it is our wedding!  We wanted to get married in Hawaii with just our parents and siblings, but knew FI's family would be upset b/c they are all so close.  Makes me wonder why we went didn't do it anyway.

Sorry just needed to vent.  FI and my parents are so upset about the chicken pox thing, that i have no one to vent to.  Thanks for listening.

OMG Alyson!!! That is horrible!! I hope you get better soon and you don't get any other potential health problems!! That is such a nightmare!! Im suprised your job isn't paying you some kind of paid leave of absence. I hope they RSVP to your wedding...who would miss that over a football game???!! Feel better!!

Oh goodness!  Have you ever had chicken pox?

That sounds like a nightmare. Literally. I'm really sorry. I hope everything works out fine & you get over it quickly. It really sucks that you don't get any paid sick leave though. Yuck.

And about family not RSVPing -- gosh I hope the football game isn't the reason. If I found out that was the reason one of my family members (or DH's) didn't RSVP I would be angry. I think a family member's wedding always takes precedence over a football game (and I come from Texas where we are serious about college football).

I hope things work out. At least you know us Knotties love you.

Yikes! Please vent, that is terrible. I am so sorry.  I have had shingles (chicken pox virus) its awful, but I know this is the full blown break out.  Get some rest and try to relax.

FI's family, that is annoying.  After we were married, I would have liked to just get married at a destination place.  But it was really fun with the family who did come and it was nice to see everyone.  Don't worry about the people who don't show, you won't even realize it on that day.  Everything is full of happiness and its a blur, nothing matters except you and FI.

Thanks guys.  I was exposed to chicken pox in the delivery room, but never developed anything.  One summer, my brother and cousins all got it, but I did not.  So the doctors figured that the exposure when I was born might have helped create an ammunity to them.  I guess that's not the case.

I'm nervous about talking to the CDC tomorrow.  As an EMT, I was so use to reading their yearly print outs of crazy diseases that we have to respond to in our area. It's weird to think that I will be a number on that sheet now.  Anyway, we'll see what happens.  I'll update tomorrow when my blood work comes back.

Im sure your FI's parents will rsvp soon! I would hope that they wouldnt respond just because of a football game!

So sorry about chicken pox.  No fun.  Take care of yourself.

And really sorry about the football thing.  People really need to grow up about these things. There are many football games, but you are only going to have one wedding.

I am so sorry to hear this.  I remember the chicken pox VERY well....I had them in 5th grade for three weeks....I missed almost a month of school because of it.  It just sucked!  I hope they clear up soon!

I hope you get better soon. Try to stay positive. I know its hard right now but at least this didnt happen in the days before your wedding. It still stinks but hopefully  it will all go away fairly quickly. Please keep us posted.

I hope you feel better :)  I'm sure everything with the CDC will workout fine.

About the football game...ugh!    I think I'm going to run into the same problem with some friends who are die-hard APP fans!  I hope they come to their senses and understand that family /> football, especially UMass football!

Allie, I am so sorry about the Chicken Pox.  I hope that you recover fast and they don't lead to anything else.  I hope that relaxing and taking it easy (as difficult as that may be right now) will help you with a speedy recovery.

And for the football, we got that too with the looming possibility of a Clemson home game...really? Clemson (sorry to any fans) But in the end, the people that are truly closest to you will be there and shame on the others if they choose football!

    Feel better soon!

Bless your heart Allie!  I hope you have a quick recovery...just think positively...positive thinking is always better for the immune system!

I can't believe that your FI family hasn't RSVPed because of a football game, but we had a similar issue with our wedding weekend.  We are doing it labor day weekend and some people have their yearly trip to the lake, beach, mountains or whatever.  Most of them ended up coming though because someone convinced them that the wedding is only once and labor day weekend happens every year.  I just find it a shame that people get so worked up over a routine shakeup to celebrate a family member or close friend.  I'm sure it will all work out though soon.

I'm so sorry to hear all this!  Shame on those who won't attend due to a game.  A true friend will be there no matter what.  (Unless of course they work with the university and is required to be there, which actually happened to a friend of mine where his brother-in-law arrived late to the wedding because he works in the press box)

I recently discovered the Carolina/Dook basketball game falls on my wedding date and is during the reception.  I'm now trying to find out how to incorporate a tv into the ballroom.  haha.

Oh no! Vibes! I am so sorry! That's gotta be yucky, I hope you can rest up with some OJ and some calamine lotion.

And, while we love football in our house, there is NO way we would choose football over a family member's wedding. Wtf? I mean, I might ask FI to bring his iPhone so we could check the score but... football is every fall, weddings are not! :)

So, that said- I hope you feel better incredibly soon, and that FI's relatives realize that, "OMG, we COULD Tivo it! Because this it the 21st century!" :)

We were at a wedding when a lot of the March Madness games were on and half of the crowd was in the bar area where the TV was...it was comical.  It was there that I watched my bracket go down the tubes.  I like the TV ballroom idea...it will keep everyone off their phones trying to see the score =)

Get well soon!  Try soaking in some oatmeal bath to help ease the itch.  My mom made me soak in an oatmeal bath at night when I had them.
