AW!: coolest post wedding idea ever

tonight it just popped in my head a wedding portrait of my FI and myself. He loves this idea I mean what better way to capture this blessed moment in your life and will out last pictures even.  I am super stoked, wish it was here already haha.  Now have to find a good local artist. Plus then I get to dress up in my wedding dress again.

Now question is acrylic or oil.  I am a very amateur artist myself so I know the different properties of each and know oil would take so much longer and much more expensive. I've personally only worked with acrylic and water colors in the medium of paint.

Also suggestions of poses for this. I feel like a full length view would be too big to get all the detail, but I would like  my future dress in the shot and have a whole view of it.

I think it is a nice idea but you most certainly wouldn't have to get dressed up in your wedding dress again.  A good artist would be able to capture a good portrait of you from one of your wedding photos.  After the wedding, just pick out your favorite photo and have him paint it. You can also choose to get the photo printed on a canvas that has a texture and gloss applied over it so that it looks like a real painting. I think that is really cool.  An art store or even your photographer can get this done.  If you want to find a local artist, I'd suggest hanging out around the Disney Festival of the Arts or perhaps the Winter Park Art Fair in the fall and talking with any of the artists who have works you like.

I got FI a picture of one of our e-pics printed on canvas and andy warhol style. He LOVES it. It was decently inexpensive. I had a artsy friend turn it into andy warhol style and then I sent the pic online to canvas love and they did the rest. It was really fast too. I love the look of the canvas.
I agree with Theresa that you wouldn't need to get dressed up again and the artist would be able to do it from the picture.

thanks for the idea of the picture to canvas, my FI has done this for me past presents and they are cool  but definitely not the same. I want an actual painting of us.  Yes could do it from a photo but don't know we will have the right pose or anything, anyway this is a long way off. We probably have to use a painter here in DC area as to cut down on shipping costs etc.
