not sure if a mani/pedi is worth it...

I'm undecided about getting either amnicure or predicure or both for my wedding.
i'm spending the better part of the day before my wedding doing flowers and setting up the reception venue so it's not like I'll have a lot of extra time. I thought I could do it 2 days before my wedding but my nails will probably chip because I have really weak, soft nails.

What do you all think? Is it worth getting?

What's your alternate plan? If it's manicure two days before vs. ragged nails and rough cuticules, then definitely get the manicure. If you are one of those lucky girls who have nice looking hands all of the time by magic or something, then don't stress it.

My hands look okay most of the time!! My alternate plan is to give myself a half decent at home maincure with a nude coloured polish. i think a mani/pedi would be fun, but it's not worth stressing over

I'd just do the mani/pedi and bring in your own polish. That way if some chips from your flower arranging, you can touch it up quickly.

I think it's worth it if for no other reason than to have some time to relax and be pampered before your big day--which it sounds like you will need! So I vote yes.

Shellac nails are a bit more pricy, but they are dry instantly and they do not chip! Mine lasted all through the honeymoon, and well, they're STILL on my hands 2.5 weeks later, just ridiculoulsy grown out.

I like the idea that one of the other ladies posted about bringing in your own polish. That way if they do chip you can re-do it yourself

Also, mani-pedi's aren't just for looking good--it will also help you relax in that hectic pre-wedding time

Def go the shellac route. I got mine done 5 days before my wedding and they still looked perfect. I also had mine on for a long time.....just grown out. You can also get a shellac pedi, I never had it done because regular policy last on my toes for at least 2 months. It is nice to pamper yourself before your big day. Don't forget lots of pic will be taken of your hands to show off your rings!!

Totally get the shellac on your hands! A regular pedi is always worth it b/c (for me at least) it'll last 2+ weeks (and I'm a runner, so my feet need prettifying help from nice nails). But for your hands, do the shellac. I think at the shop I go to it's $10-15 more. I just got my first one 2 weeks ago today, as a test for the wedding and it's still shiny and totally intact- just starting to grow out, so I'll get it taken off tomorrow or the next day. I'm an RN so I'm rough on my hands, a regular mani chips in 2 days or less for me. I'm very happy w/ it and will definitely be getting it before the wedding.

i've never heard of a shellac and I'm pretty sure the salon I'd go to doesn't offer it. I actually don't like having long/fake nails so I'm not sure if thats really the route for me.

I also vote get the shellac polish. You need to pencil in some 'you-time". I was worried about breaking my acrylic tips off the two days after my spa day while setting up my outdoor tent reception and I am choosing to go the shellac route.

<div>The shellac nails are a great idea. That's what I'm going to do. It's not arcylic or extensions - its just a polish that lasts longer than regular polish and barely chips. It goes right on your nails, whatever length they naturally are.</div>

My nails were my normal length, which is SHORT. Just by looking at Shellac you can't tell that it's any different than normal nail polish. It's how they apply it that makes it stay.

Get shellac done. Harder than regular nail polish, lasts for ~ 3 weeks. But they are not fake nails, no gels, acrylics, nothing. You can let it grow out or go back to the salon and they soak the polish off with a certain type of remover.

What's your timeline like on the day-of? My wedding is July 5th, and all of the nail salons will be closed the day before and my girls won't be town until the 4th to go and get them done so I plan on going and having ours done the morning of before my hair and makeup lady is due to come to the house. My ceremony isn't until 4:00 so I'll have time to have them done in the morning. Even if the salon were open on the 4th, I'm also doing flower arrangements and doing all of my setting up the day before and wouldn't want to mess up my manicure.

You've got a few months - you could maybe apply nail strengthener in the meantime to help build them up? And make sure you get whatever vitamins affect nail growth...I'm not sure what they are off-hand.

I'm all for pampering, but honestly, the nail polish used at the salon chipped just as quickly as when I do it myself - they just did a neater job. It even peeled off in a single sheet because it was so thick. BUT given that you are busy the night before, I would recommend getting your fingernails done and I think it's a great idea to bring your own polish so you can do touchups later.

I am so not a foot kind of person and I don't think I could handle a pedicure (super ticklish too), plus they are pretty easy to do yourself. If you want to save a few bucks, and have some free time earlier in the week, you can do a pretty great pedicure for yourself for really cheap. Make sure they dry really well and you shouldn't have to worry about chips or smudges.
