  I'm having a buffet reception as well.  I did not indicate anywhere on the RSVP that a buffet will be served.  You don't have to mention it at all.

  There is no need to tell people.  They will figure it out when they get there.

  Just put the traditional "reception to follow" on the invitation. People will get the idea. Just as long as they know that there is a reception afterwards, or else they might assume that they are only being invited to the ceremony.

  If I don't have to indicate a meal choice in the invitation, I always assume there will be a buffet, or at least several things to choose from at the venue.
