Mariella's. Just need to rant..

Ok, it's nothing major, and I don't have a serious problem with Mariella's at this point, but I'm just kind of annoyed. I know some people love Mariella's (my sister loved them when she got her gown there 5 years ago for her own wedding....) but I also hear mixed reviews. Anyways, I am having my BMs get their dresses at Mariella's - 6 of them to be exact. 2 of my girls called in their measurements, and 2 months later, realized that their bank accounts were never charged for the deposit. When they called to ask why, Mariella's said "we never got the order"....which is BS! Because they didn't even do the order online, they actually called it in and spoke with someone! Grrr. And to top things off, they had my wedding date wrong in their computer! It's June 29, 2012 and they had June 26....I know it's only 3 days off but seriously, who would have a wedding on a Wednesday anyways!

Phew. ok, done ranting. Has anyone had a similar experience with Mariellas? I'm just anxious at this point, hoping that everything arrives on time and nothing goes wrong with alterations....

  • Wow, Mariella's.. way to NOT be professional and organized.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this :(  They better not try to tell you that there will be a rush fee or anything for the BM dresses when THEIR people screwed up!

  • It's funny you mention this... I bought my dress from them and had a great experience (so far, dress hasn't come in yet) but went back a few weeks ago to look at BM dresses and had a horrible experience... sales associate asked everyone on the floor if they needed help but walked right by me.

Needless to say, I won't be buying anything else from them!

  • When I first went in to try on bridal dresses, they treated me so well (prob. just to get the sell). Because ever since I bought and paid for it, they have been completely rude and horrible on customer service. Whenever my BM have called to order their dresses/inquire about them, they were treated very rudely. I've been back since my dress did come in and even when I call on the phone I'm treated extremely rudely. We've spent over $5,000 there on my gown and 3 bridesmaids gowns and I seriously regret ever using them. I would not reccomend them to anyone based on their customer service and I'm not looking forward to going in for my fittings.

  • I had a great experience there - dress shopping and my fittings. They were a little pushy when my mom was just browsing for MOB dresses, but were great for me and my BMs.

  • i have also had a great experience with them for both my dress and the the girls bridesmaid dresses. sounds super mixed!
  • I'm definitely feeling better now that I've heard that some of you have had a great experience there (like I said in my original post, I definitely hear mixed reviews about them...from the best to the worst). And I would never want to really bad-mouth a bridal shop just because of a few mistakes. But I think brides have a tendency to over-react to "a few mistakes" because your wedding is so important to you! At least that's how I have been acting...I'm usually so laid back but this wedding is making me a little feisty!

I have a feeling that Mariella's is the type of place where some sales associates are amazing, and others are not so great...and it really just depends on who you get. Hoping for smooth sailing from here on out!

  • Wow!  Good thing your BMs checked their account and were on top of that.  I would definitely have been annoyed too!  The only experience I had with Mariellas was when I was initially shopping around (and they were great) but I don't have any experience with their follow-thru because I ended up going somewhere else

I'm sorry you are having such an issue with them.  I've used them before as a BM and family has used them for their wedding dresses and we've never had an issue which is why I chose to get my dress there.  Since I had one BM get measured months ahead of the others (she lives in CA and was here for a week in the summer) I called to verify that the order got put through a few days after everyone got the measurements in.
  • When my cousin got her BM dresses there years ago I got my alterations done there and their alterations department was AMAZING! I had to get extra material ordered for the dress (as did all but one of the other girls - this dress was not very forgiving) and the woman had to create panels to allow for coverage and you couldn't even tell. They did a fantastic job.
  • I got a bridesmaid's dress there once and ordered and paid for extra length.  The dress did not come with the extra length and I had a hell of the time convincing them to refund the charge, while they tried to convince me that there was actually extra length.

  • I went there shopping with my mom who is a size 24 and they were pushing to sell her a $700 gown my sister got married last year and she paid $600 for her wedding gown do my mom is not about to spend more on mother dress. We went to Bridal Bells in Berlin and my mom found awesome gown for $180. She was so very happy :)
