What to wear to RD? Help with overbearing MOH

So I had totally planned on a chill rehearsal and RD for our wedding. We are meeting at the church for an hour for the rehearsal and then headed to a pizza parlor for dinner. I want to keep it super casual, jeans and tshirts. My sister, MOH, informed me that she is wearing a dress and that it would be bad form for me not to wear a dress to my rehearsal. When she got married, her FIL's hosted a posh RD at a ritzy restaurant. I was planning on wearing dark jeans, a cute dress top and heels. Do I have to wear a dress to my rehearsal???

We haven't sent out our einvites yet. I'm thinking about adding a "come as you are" line. What do you think?

  • I think that if it's at a pizza parlor, that says it all right there -- it's casual, so you can wear what you want.  If it was at a posh place, that would be different, but it isn't.

I completely agree that a dress is not needed. It's not her wedding and if that's what you and FI agreed on it you're find. I'd love to wear jeans to mine lol
  • My only thought would be whether you are comfortable wearing jeans in your church. Obviously jeans are perfect for the pizza party dinner you have planned, but is wearing jeans ok for the church part? If yes, then you have your answer. That would be my benchmark, not what your sister did for hers or what is "proper form" for a RD.

  • Our church is a very contemporaty non-denominational church. We are a come as you are kind of church. Our pastor usually wears khakis and a polo :) Thanks for the support guys! You all are the best!

This. I am a jeans-wearing-girl-all-the-time, but I'm wearing a cotten black hi-low dress from Target for the rehearsal and then dinner.
  • I think if jeans are okay in your church, then wear jeans! How about wearing a cute white top?
