Larissa Lake vs. Naomi's

Anyone have any thoughts on these two companies? I'm debating between the two. Naomi's is much more expensive for the bride and they're both about the same for family/attendents.

I used Naomi and although she is more expensive she is truly a professional.  Her work is amazing and her airbrush make up that she uses is great. She works with each person to accentuate their individual faces. Me and my 6 attendants all looked wonderful but not all the same and uniformed make up, she really tailored everyones look for them and our venue/ evening wedding.

I dont have any experience with Larissa Lake so can only speak to naomi. I was also impressed with how she runs her business and is very involved in every aspect of it.  I am using her again for my cousins wedding in January and would absoltuely recommend her.

  • I'm using Naomi's for my hair and make up for myself and my 2 sisters.  I haven't gone for a trial yet but I've heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone who has used her!
  • I am using Larissa Lake.  I had my trial and I absolutely loved her work.  She got my make up exactly the way I wanted it and my hair looked amazing too.  My overall experience in her salon was fanastic too.  Not only is she awesome at what she does, she is SO nice and is so easy to talk to.  She also is really easy to get ahold of via email, and like you said, her prices are better.  I like to take all of these things into consideration, not just the actual work (although that is the most important), and you definitely won't be dissapointed with Larissa.

  • Thank you! I have been really torn. I was impressed with Naomi's before and afters on her site, but loved the quick replies I received from Larissa. I was leaning towards Naomi for her work (mainly because I haven't seen much of Larissa's), but was leaning towards Larissa for her responsiveness and professionalism as well as her prices. Thank you for the feedback!

  • I am using Naomi's for my hair and makeup.  I have Angela for hair and Janice for makeup.  I recently went for my trial and was so pleased with the results!  I cannot wait for my actual wedding.  It made be expensive, but I know that I will look amazing!

Not to make your decision more complicated, but I went with Erin Faella out of Providence.  Their travel rates are really reasonable, especially for Eastern Connecticut.  Their prices were really good - $100 for bridal hair or makeup, $75 for attendants hair or makeup.

  • calindi - Now you've added one that I need to look into :) Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check her out!

  • I think it is Sara Faella out of RI, Erin is her scheduler though ;).  That is who I am using and she is awesome!
  • I am also using Naomi's.  Before my wedding, I used her salon for makeup twice (Janice and Candice) and hair once (Liz).  I had my trials a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier.  For my wedding I am also using Candice for makeup and I am using Tonya for hair.
  • I'm using Larissa Lake and I love her! The trial was easy and fun. I loved the way my hair and makeup came out and can't wait for her to do all the girls!

I've used Naomi's several times (Candice, Naomi and Elise for makeup) and wow their work is amazing. I also get my hair done by Elise at the salon now. I know that Naomi is a Media Makeup Artist and has a lot of experience working in TV and Film and has trained her staff personally. Honestly, I just looked at larissa's work and it's nice, but I love how Naomi's work looks more polished.  In 5 or 10 years the price difference won't matter. But good luck. I hope your date is avaialble, I know that they are currently booking two years out.

  • i'm using Larissa Lake! I can't wait for my trial at the end of the month. She's been so great to work with so far, and just seems really nice and down to earth. I'm easily stressed, and she's already helped me to relax--I can tell she'll be one of the people who keeps me calm on the day-of! Check out her Facebook page, she;s always posting photos of her work!!

  • Thank you ladies! Both salons have my date available. We're getting married in the winter in CT so I'm not too worried about someone snatching my date. I am FB Fans of both of their pages and love seeing their new postings. I was kind of leaning towards Larissa when I started this post, but wasn't sure because all the feedback I heard was for Naomi's. I love Naomi's work and yes, experience costs more. I was a little turned off my the first contact I received from Naomi's so I was feeling them both out from other brides.

Haha, whoops!  Thanks for correcting me so the poster can find the right artist!  Either way, I was thrilled with their work, they're very easy to schedule and speak with, and their prices (including travel prices) are very reasonable.  They don't have minimum number of bridesmaids, either, which helps as I have zero bridesmaids!  Just me, my Mom, and my brother's girlfriend will be getting our makeup done!

Thank you!  I absolutely can't wait to chop my hair off after our wedding, I've been growing it for 3 years and I can't take it anymore!  I'm going shoulder length!

  • Really?! It looks gorgeous long! I completely understand though. My FI wants me to grow it out and I can't stand it - even at shoulder length! It's one of those inverted bobs and the longest part is chin length. I've been thinking about growing it out, but I still don't know. My baby fine, limp hair is horrible. I have an appointment with my regular hair dresser next weekend and we're going to dicuss some options :)

Well my hair looks good when I take the time to do it and straighten it, but naturally it's really wavy and tangles very easily and annoys me!  I am going to cut it shorter with lots of layers and make it look more like it has a style, instead of a bird nest tangled mess that it really looks like everday lol.

  • Haha! I hear ya. I'm a big fan of short hair. It's easier to take care of unless you wear a pony tail every day in my opinion. :)

This is what I do, a pony tail every day!  I cant wait for it to be short and cute and I can wear it down without forming dreadlocks in one day :)

  • Thank you ladies! I'm signing a contract with Larissa and they're doing my hair/makeup for my engagement pictures in two weeks. I'm SO excited!

Yes! That's all I did too when I had long hair. I was so tired of it. My Mom thinks I should go even shorter and my FI want me to grow it REALLY long. Two opposite sides. You'll be SO happy you cut it though. "Come to the dark side". :)
