Day of wedding lunch/food

What did you/are you doing to feed your bridal party on the day of? I know from being in previous weddings it sucks being stuck somewhere and not having anything to eat (such as for pictures) so just trying to get a few ideas.

I was thinking chips and dip, cut up fruit, and sandwiches. But where could I get sandwiches? Or does anyone have any better inexpensive ideas?

I plan to have an egg bake in the morning @ my house where we are getting ready with hair and make up.  Then for food after pictures I plan to have  wraps, veggies, chips, potato salad, etc.    Any food that is leftover will go on the bus to eat on the way to the reception if we can't wait for the food there.

I've been to weddings where subway was served, pizza, or mini sandwiches.

Are you buying any of the food somewhere or just making it all yourself?

I was planning on having mimosas, the fruit, and pastries in my hotel room that morning where we are all getting ready-

My mom is going to make the egg bake and the rest is either grandma's or mom's making.  My mom is coming up on Wed for my Friday wedding so we will be prepping these items on Wed or Thursday for Friday.

If it comes to a time crunch...I will buy these items instead of making them.  Subway is my last resort if all else fails!!!

We had bagels and mimosas at the salon while the guys ate at Key's before their hot lather shaves at Heime's.  I sent a cooler of food and water with my Dad in the morning to bring over to the hotel where the guys were getting dressed.  II stocked with bread, presliced cheese, and deli meat for the guys to eat lunch from.  I got dressed at my parents' house so I just put another loaf of bread, meat and cheese in their fridge.

Granola bars are another good thing.  I'd avoid dips and stuff that could get on people's dresses.

We are doing the simplest thing I could think of... Jimmy Johns! :) Just getting an assortment of mini subs to have. This is what we're doing for the day before.. while we're setting up the reception hall! :) (we're doing a grooms cruise around 2pm-5pm so no dinner, just light fare for guests invited on the cruise). Day of I think we'll do Panera Bagels and cream cheese or fruit cut up. :) Can't be too bloated... hahaha!

We also did egg bake and fruit in the morning for getting ready.  At the church during pictures we set out sandwhiches and tons of other snack foods.  To be honest I don't even know where the sandwhiches came from and they were all gone before I could have any.  Lol.  I think they were from Subway but my MIL handled all the food for that day.

Just remember to not have too messy of food so no one spills on their dress/tux.  :)

We went as simple as possible with our food, because I didn't want to chance anyone spilling on themselves or getting upset stomachs during the wedding.

Our venue wasn't available for a rehearsal until the morning of, so we all met at the venue at like 9:30 in the morning... and as incentive/thanks... fed people bagels and coffee from Bruegger's (although, come to think of it, I never had a bagel that morning!)

From there we broke off into groups. The guys helped set up and slowly got themselves ready... my mom and I stayed at the venue for hair and makeup... while the BMs went to a salon for their hair (we only had one on-site hair stylist available). At lunch time, a few of the GMs went on a Jimmy John's run and brought back sandwiches for everyone (including the BM's, who were trickling back in from the salon.)

The morning of we had assorted pastries that I had picked up at Rainbow that night before. We stayed in a hotel room and just brought our own OJ & champagne for mimosas in the morning as well.

For lunch and snacks during pictures I ordered two sandwich trays with 24 sandwiches/tray from Rainbow as well as a fruit and a veggie tray. The girls and guys had separate changing areas at the mansion, so that way we could have one tray up with us and they could have one tray down with them. The fruit and veggies ended up traveling from place to place cause we didn't tell the guys about them till it was too late and then they just stole them from us.

Total cost for breakfast: $15 for the pastries, $3 for the OJ and then $5-10 for the champagne.
Total cost for lunch: $50 for the two sandwich trays, $10-15/tray for the fruits & veggies.

Ditto on Rainbow or Cub....they have the cheapest subs around and are delicous! Thats what we did. We looked at Subway Jimmy Johns and Pot bellys.....we found rainbow, target and cub to be the cheaper route :)

We had subway, trail mix, and a veggie tray. I would suggest keeping things cold and simple. I know that I was so busy the morning of that I barely had time to down the few carrots that my BMs shoved at me and I never even got a chance to eat my sandwich. The easier things are to eat whenever you have time, the better.

I'm totally doing Erbs and Gerbs hoagies! They were my fav in college and they're so yummy. :) I also plan on doing mimosas/champagne while we're setting up the venue and then getting ready. My ceremony isn't until 6 so I'm not getting ready until 2-3 PM, so we won't have to provide breakfast, although if people come to the venue early with me, I will probably get bagels and what not.
