Florists

I was thinking that I would make my own bouquets from flowers I picked up from a farmer's market but now I'm having second thoughts. I thought I'd ask here before talking to any florists so I don't offend anyone...is it even possible to get a very small bouquet for myself for under $20? Flowers really aren't in my budget but I'd like to have something for pictures.

Re: Florists

  • I don't think you can get that from a florist since they usually include labor if they want to make any money.  I'd recommend just going to a Bachmanns or Trader Joes and picking out a ready-made bouquet that you like and shaping it into your bouquet on your own... there's plenty of good instructional videos on youtube!  DIY flowers can be time consuming, but if you're only doing bouquets, have a couple helpful friends and are not doing floral centerpieces for all your tables, too... you could probably manage it pretty easily!
  • I don't think so. I played around with silk flowers for my own bouquet for awhile and was having a hard time, so I talked to a couple florist to see about a simple red bouquet for my MOH and something just slightly bigger for myself. The cheapest they said they could have done it for was around $75, and they said that would be pretty bare-bones.

  • I'd give it a shot on your own. Flowers can be sooo expensive. Because my wedding was in January and I figured no matter how well-protected they were, the cold would get to them, my aunts and I made bouquets out of silk flowers from Michael's. Like PP said, if you pick something nice from Trader Joe's and check out YouTube, I'm sure you can manage.
  • I am doing my own flowers and food.
