Getting in Shape

Crunch time : /

Well last may I started my weightloss journey. Lost 29 lbs. worked really hard till I want dress shopping. Ordered my dress and kinda just gave up. The dress still fits perfect, but I gained about 8 of the pounds back. Now it's crunch time, I'm exactly 3months away to the wedding. And in need of some motivation and suggestions to help get me back on track. I'd like to lose a ill bit more before I start getting the alterations.... :(

  • Hello my fellow bride

Here is a diet that I am doing already lost 10 pounds in three days with it. hope this helps you out.

    Breakfast

    • ½ a grapefruit
    • 1 slice of toast
    • 2 teaspoons of Peanut Butter
    • Black Coffee or Tea

    Lunch:

    • ½ cup of Tuna or Chicken
    • 1 slice of toast or cheese
    • black coffee or Tea

    Dinner:

    • 2 hot dogs
    • 1 cup of broccoli or cabbage
    • ½ cup of carrots
    • ½ banana
    • ½ cup of ice cream

This is an example for I am doing by the label recommended portion size so, give it a try and see if you can fit in a sexier wedding dress. I know you will make a beautiful bride.
  • Dude, that is NOT enough food.  And hot dogs?  Really?

Your best bet at this point, OP, is to cut out as many processed foods as you can.  Eat whole foods--lots of fruits and veggies (fresh is best, but frozen is good too), lean proteins (chicken, turkey, lean cuts of beef or lean ground beef), healthy fats (olive oil, nuts, peanut butter, avocado), whole grains.  Make sure you're eating ENOUGH but not TOO MUCH (track on a site like myfitnesspal, sparkpeople, etc).

Adding in some high intensity intervals into your workouts, and some weight training is usually a good idea too (unless you have injuries or something where you shouldn't--talk to your doctor if you're unsure).   Just make sure you're eating enough to support your activity level.

  • J&K is dead right on this one.  If I ate what BabyPanda suggested I would be literally starving and undereating can lead to weight loss stall-out.
  • While Panda I think is well-intentioned, that probably isn't a very good diet for long-term weight loss.    I was working with someone on my diet and was advised to try to cut out processed foods like JK mentioned- things like carbs and refined sugars - so think breads, fried foods, crackers, snack foods like gold fish or cheez its.  It was unbelievably hard for me.  And truthfully, I still cheat from time to time.

Also, I was told to up my protein consumption - more meats like chicken, ground turkey and extra lean beef or pork.  Also  lots of veggies.

The program is for my specific body nad problems, but I know I have a slow natural metabolism and needed to follow this "diet" for awhile to help kick-start some weight loss.  After a couple weeks of being "on the wagon"  it is much easier and I am losing weight.  I also crave carbs and sweets less when I havent been eating them.  Now that I have been eating better for awhile, I also dont feel guilty when I eat a sandwich instead of a lettuce wrap - I just dont do it all the time.

I pair better eating with two weekly sessions at the gym lifting and aim for 2-3 cardio sessions a week - some weeks I only get one, sometimes I get four - life happens, ya know?  I try to stage my meals so that I eat twice as many grams of protien as (natural ) carbs every day.  If you are being extra strict, aim to consume natural sugars by the midpont of your day too.

A typical day for me would be somewhere around 1200 calories and include oats and walnuts and berries for breakfast (very filling  - lots of good natural fiber to keep you full), 1-2 lean chicken breasts for lunch with some left over veggies as a side and maybe some almonds as a snack later.  Dinner is more lean meat - maybe a pork chop or two with veggies and maybe a leafy salad with little or no cheese, a vinigrette and maybe some candied nuts.

    Hope this helps!
  • cvb, you mention your diet is specific for your body and problems.  I just want to reiterate that.  I don't know if you're working with your doctor or what, but 1200 calories is not enough for most women that are also working out.  So for you, it might be good, but it's not a good number to recommend to others.  I would starve just as much eating what you eat in a day as I would eating what Panda eats.
