Officiant

We are looking for a wedding officiant.... does anyone know the "average" price to hire an officiant?  I've contacted a few but they seem pretty high to me.

I was floored by pricing as well until I found our officiant. I LOVE her! She is amazing! Her name is Alice M. Delgardo and she charges $125. She is very thoughtful and personalizes the ceremony to fit your personalities. She is located out of New Port Richey. Here is her number if you want to contact her 727-255-9174. Good luck!

We were actually down in the St Pete and Bradenton area last week looking at locations and met with an awesome lady!! Alice Foote with heavenly vows.. she met us at the beach in the morning to go over things and we just sat in the sand and instantly I felt so comfortable with her!! She charges 150 dollars.  Now I just have to decide where I want to get married so I can book her!!!!

If you want a great officiant who is calming and who really acts as your guide, Deborah Walker is an amazing woman. Look up "A Florida Wedding Ceremony" on Wedding Wire. She's very helpful on suggesting florists or Djs she trusts, as well, if you happen to need an ear. Good luck!

We hired Rev. Richard Rogers, senior minister at Unity of Naples, to officiate our wedding.  Rev. Richard and the church's wedding coordinator, Dorothy, have been awesome so far.  They've given me a few sample scripts that have been very touching and well written.  While they have given us some sample vows and verses, we're allowed to choose our own.

The church charges $300 to officiate a wedding off-site for a non-member.  They charge an additional $100 for the rehearsal.  So, we're paying $400 total.  It's a little more than we originally imagined paying, but considering how great they've been thus far, I can't imagine going with anyone else.

    Here's the church's website:  http://www.naplesunity.org/

Oh wow! I had no idea they were that expensive! I was thinking $50ish! haha! Looks like I need to modify my budget.

So, I really want a woman and someone that is very non-traditional. I know there are a few areas of the traditional speech that I really don't agree with, but I'm also not sure what I want them to say instead. I want someone that is experienced in this, so they can give me ideas. Any suggestions? Kmfreema - do you think Alice Delgardo has a lot of experience in the non-traditional areas?

hbdolphin, We're using Deborah Walker from A Florida Wedding Ceremony. She's about $275 and we rewrote our ceremony to make it more "us". Also, we took some aspects of Christianity and some aspects of Judaism, but mostly just made it less lame. She'll give you like 30 options and sit down with you and make it yours!

We used Jennifer from Notary to Go. She was awesome! She sent us a copy of the written ceremony within a week. I think she was around $300.

hbbdolphin she specializes is non-denominational weddings and can do anything you want. I didn't want a traditional ceremony but my FI wanted to use the traditional vows. After about a 20 minute phone conversation she came up with an almost perfect ceremony for us. The only thing we had to change was taking my FI brother from his moms second marriage out because of his religion. At our meeting she let us read over the ceremony and then she talked about why she added certain things and had no issues changing anything. At the end the appointment I felt like we were part of her family! She truly cares about understanding what we wanted for our day. I dont know how non traditional you want to go but during our meeting she said she could do anything but jump out of a plane and marry us underwater lol I'd definitely give her a call. Smile

We used Sam the Notary. He was $100, but since he had to drive quite a way for our wedding, we paid about $50 for mileage. He showed up early and was completely kind and calm when the ceremony started 30 min late. Everyone loved him and I highly recommend!
