October 2012 Weddings

So I got my 1st RSVP back and...

It has NO name! Accepts with pleasure is checked and there are 2 people attending. It's post marked with the city it came from so I contacted my family members that live in that city and they all have said they haven't sent there RSVP back yet. So the only other person I could think of that's in that city is FI's aunt. So, I called FMIL and asked if she could call and find out. No word yet. FI says he thinks there will be a lot of them coming back like that and he says I should have put there names on them. I though everyone knew they were supposed to write their name on the line next to the 'M'. I guess not. I didn't think to address the envelopes with there names on the outer envelope as well. Opps... my mistake. Embarassed

  • I numbered all of my guests in an excel file and then wrote a small corresponding number on the back of every RSVP card. I would hope that people know to fill in their names, but you never know.

  • I'm sorry to hear that happened.  Hopefully, its the last one.  I mean, I've always known that, and everyone in my family does as well but FI's fam...I was willing to bet, wouldn't.

I opted to leave the whole M________________ off and put little numbers in the corners of the RSVPs and make a spreadsheet of who was invited next to each number.  Mainly just to save myself the headache.  Plus, once it gets closer, its alot easier to look for numbers with no response than a list of names.

Again, bummer to hear what happened!!

  • I did the same thing as Nic.  We have gotten a couple back, they have names but only checks next to the meals they are selected I wish they would put their initial next their meal choice instead.

I hope your FMIL can help you out and the rest of your guests put their name on the RSVP card!

  • I also did the same thing as Nic but so far everyone has written their names. However, even so the RSVP card says please INITIAL because each attendee's meal choice a lot of people are just putting a number or an x and I'm having to call/text/FB, etc.

  • Luckily, we don't have to keep track of who's having what for dinner. Guests can re-order their dinner at the reception. One less thing to worry about!

  • I did the numbers in the corner and also put the line. Hopefully I will only have a few to double check.
  • I wish I would have done the whole number thing! Ugh, I really don't feel like calling everyone to find out if it was them. I've text a few people and unfortunately FMIL called back and said it wasn't her sister. ;(

  • I'm going to number ours for that reason!  Sorry!

Great idea!! OP that sucks that happend but because of you I learned of this great idea.  I would never have thought of doing that.
  • I already planned for the fact that most people wouldnt know what to put for the M_____ so I had it changed to Name(s): _____ and then put return address labels on all of them so I would know who it came from even if they didnt fill in the name line. I made my invites dummy proof. lol.

  • I put return address labels on all my rsvp cards so even if the person forgot to put there names I could see before I even opened it who it was from.  Good luck!

  • oh no! Maybe when most everyone else have sent theirs, you can narrow it down better. I made an excel sheet a long time ago with three columns to check off (STD, RSVP, Thank you card) and put the guests' corresponding number on the back of their RSVP. Good luck!

  • Ugh, what a pain! Hope you hear back from your FMIL and get it straightened out.

I meant to number our RSVPs but when we actually were putting everything together, I completely forgot. So far, we've only had one blank, but we were able to figure out who it is very easily. Fingers crossed for no more!
