Cost Effective Catering in Los Angeles

Hi Knotties -- Is $200 a head crazy or is it just me?

I realize this is LA, but we aren't made of money and we aren't trying to stage some elaborate show. Can anyone recommend a service that would provide food (buffet or family style), staff and stuff like tables, chairs, linens, dishes etc for a reasonable price? We have about 75-100 guests and would like to keep our total cost for the entire event at or around 50-70 a head.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Check out Jay's Catering.  they are based out of Garden Grove.  I saw their wedding packages and it looks like the lowest that they do, per head, buffett style, is 45 a head.  I am going to a tasting at the Ebell Club on Long Beach (also potential venue for us) on 2/18 to taste the food.  But a friend of mind used them and she said they were really good.

East Side Marios is very reasonably priced.  I have been to a few weddings that they catered for and their food was awesome...FI and I decided to book them for our caterer because the food was soo good.

Would that be for food or food+alcohol? I'm paying $103 per person for my reception venue, valet parking, passed apps for cocktail hour, a 3 course dinner, beer, wine, well drinks, tax and service. So it IS possible!

One of my favorite catering companies is Border Grill catering. They have menues starting at $36/pp.

You might want to try DJ's catering in Ventura.  They're very reasonable and their service is phenomenal.
