Churches for a Ceremony PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello All!!! Congrats to all the engaged and newly wed people on the knot!!

My fiance and I are looking for a church to have our Christian Ceremony. We need a church that would allow ceremonies for non-members. Also we would love to have a church with a more traditional look, with cathedral ceilings, large windows, and a center aisle. We're looking in the Cleveland area/suburb of Cleveland area for a location. Please Please PLEASE let me know if you all have any suggestions! Laughing
Thanks,
Kenelle

  • Try posting on your local board (over to the left) I could point you to some in DC, but don't think that would help.

  • It really sounds like you mainly want a church for looks. If you and your fiancé intend to attend church on a regular basis once you are married, why not start looking for a church home now? If you don't plan to attend, why get married in a church at all? And why a traditional-looking church? I just get offended when people want a church for pretty pictures over any other reason.

  • It's unfortunate that you're offended. That wasn't the intention. Good luck with your marriage and the rest of your life! :-)

[QUOTE]I agree with above. I know of a chuch in Cleveland that fits most of that description, but it is catholic and I doubt they will let people that are not catholics get married there.  Find a home church if you live in the area and have the service there.

[QUOTE]I agree with artbyallie.  I would be really offended if I knew someone wanted to be married in my church because they liked the cathedral ceilings! United Methodist Churches will often marry non-members, but you will probably have to agree to pre-marital counseling.

Artbyalie and CMG are spot on. A church is a place of worship. It is not a stageset.

Others ARE being helpful.   Churches are not a backdrop for your photos. If you belong to a church and have a relationship with a pastor there, you should get married there.  I am not religious at all, and don't belong to a church, and even *I* can see how church members or clergy would be offended by your request to use their place of worship as your stage.

Baby Bear, you're off to a good start. No one was rude to you. But it was rude on your part to go to another board to complain about the community members who gave you honest advice on this one.

This is a different post that you put on the Cleveland board.
