OOT guests - bridal shower

Should my mom send a bridal shower invite to girls who live OOT (will need to fly to the wedding)? Even though I'm sure they won't be able to come?

If they're family or part of the wedding party I would say yes... other wise it's not really necessary to invite them to a shower.

I'm sending invites to 3 out of state bridesmaids and several out of town/state relatives. I know that they will all not be able to come, but extending the invite lets them know that you thought about them and that they are special to you, or at least it does IMO.

I agree with Hipster and if you send an invitation and you're pretty sure they're not going to come because of distance- it puts them in the awkward position of "should I get her a gift even though I can't come"?
