July 2012 Weddings

ceglare

I had my 2nd fitting yesterday. I remember when you posted your pictures, we had the same dress! So my dress came with cups in it. They weren't really supportive though; they were just adding more bulk to the top and the dress wasn't laying flat on my chest. I asked the seamstess to take them out. Also, there is very little silver on the actual dress. The buttons in the back have a hint of silver crystal. I think we ordered the same color (ivory on ivory).

Anyway,I was wondering how you were bustling your dress? The seamstress showed me two ways.  The French bustle with the lace pulled over, and the second had the fabric pulled underneath, with lace showing on the bottom. I wish I had a pic to share, but my mom forgot to take some! I hope my description makes sense!

Re: ceglare

  • Hi!! I have my last fitting next weekend I'm so excited!

Here is a picture of my dress bustled. They were going to add a few more snaps between that fitting and my next one so it lays flatter and I don't get "wings."

I'm having two kinds. The underlay will be in a ballroom bustle, with everything tucked underneath. The lace overlay will be French, so they'll pull the train up and snap it in place at my waist in the back.

  • Your bustle looks so pretty! I really like how your seamstress did yours! My seamstress started doing a similar bustle but it wasn't looking right, so I asked her to do the other one. She's putting in 12 loops, 6 on each side, for the bustle.  I thought that was a lot, but I guess there is a lot to this dress!
