Bouquets or Parasols?

So I'm having a really hard time deciding whether to have my bridemaids use bouquets or parasols. We're getting married in a lakefront park in May, so it's very "springy". Parasols are definitely cheaper, and I think that they're beautiful, but I'm worried that it's going to be something I regret in the future because bouquets are traditional and timeless. I'm using a bouquet no matter what. Anyone have an opinion on this?

    I think it's a cute idea.  FWIW, a girl on my local board did bouquets but had the girls pose with parasols for pictures and that was cute too.  The only thing I would caution is what if you have bad weather and have to have the ceremony indoors--then you might wish you had bouquets instead.

    I think parasols are cute and unique. I don't think you would really regret them~

    That's a really good point. If it rains, we're moving it inside to where the reception is, so I maybe I could do bouquets as decorations somewhere, and if we get rained in they can grab those bouquets? I had never thought of that..

    ILove parasol idea... get just a couple of tied flowers in case it goes inside... but as you can see... you won't need both..

    I like the idea of just using the parasols for pictures. I imagine they would be pretty cumbersome to hold on to for 20 minutes or more for the ceremony.

    We used our bouquets to decorate the cake table.  If you are having a long head table or sweetheart table, they would look great there too.  So you could do these for Plan B and if you don't use them, they can still serve as part of your decor.  You could also do rose balls and put them on candlesticks but have a ribbon attached and they could serve as bouquets also.  At my boss' wedding, the girls carried rose balls instead of bouquets.

    I love parasols!  I'm a pasty pale Norwegian gal, so I appreciate shade wherever I can get it.  That being said, some people are not going to like holding it for your entire ceremony.  I like the idea of having small bouquets available if the ceremony has to be inside.
