Cake flavors

Okay ladies I just read the post about cakes and it got me thinking I know we have all pretty much locked down our cakes by now and for those who havent they might be having a hard time deciding on flavors or design I know we did a siggy a while back with cake inspiration pics so now im thinking lets show off our finalized cakes pics can be included or not. So post your flavors, number of tiers, and general design/shape. If anything we will all get super hungry for cake and might help those not decided lock something in.

  • Okay so mine is a square 4 tier cake. It will be white with an edible navy fondant ribbon and scroll work with little silver dots. Our flavors will be lemon with a lemon zest marscarpone filling, strawberry cream cake with layers of fresh strawberries, triple chocolate with a chocolate mousse filling, and a reese peanut butter chocolate cake with reese filling (for the kids at the wedding and for FI he loves reese). The only difference in the pic is our ribbon will be edible and will be a bit smaller.

  • We are having a four tier round cake.  Two tiers will be white cake with a strawberry mousse filling and two tiers will be chocolate cake with a white chocolate mousse filling...so good.  It will be a vanilla buttercream for the frosting.  

    The tiers will have a sage ribbon around the bottom of each tier, and some scroll work and then fresh flowers to match our centerpieces and bouquets.

    Ours is 3 tiers, round, with white buttercream frosting.  It'll have the purple hydrangeas in an "S" design & on top, just like the pic.  :)

    top layer: Almond/white cake with chocolate filling
    center layer: Lemon cake with cream cheese filling
    bottom layer: Almond/white cake with raspberry filling

  • Our cake will be a 3 tier square cake, bottom tier is almond cake with blackberry preserve filling, second tier is black forest cake, and the third tier will be champange cake with strawberry preserve filling.  The colors will be cornflower blue and white, and look something like this (minus the 4th tier and the flowers).




    And this is our topper.  I love this topper!



    Now, I really want to eat some cake.  lol

    i'm almost more excited about our cake stand than our actual cake!! LOL! Well okay, excited about the cake too.  Our cake will be 2 tiers, white buttercream frosting with little pearls at the base of each tier, and a lace ribbon wrapped around the base as well. Topped with fresh flowers. Flavor is chocolate layered with chocolate buttercream.
  • Ok chickenbut our cakes are very similar!  
    We are having a 3 tier square cake with white buttercream.  It will have the little pearls scattered all over.  The first tier is white cake, second is strawberry and third is butter pecan.
    The only difference b/w the pic and our cake is that we will have a blue ribbon on the bottoms of each tier instead.

    Also, We cant decide if we want to do hydrangeas on the top or a "P" cake topper that stands up?  Any opinions?
  • We're doing cupcakes on a cake stand, with fresh flowers to decorate the stand but no extra embellishments on the cakes themselves in the following flavors:
    Classic vanilla- vanilla buttercream on white cake.
    Chocolate squared- chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream
    Strawberry lemonade- lemon cake with strawberry buttercream (the best strawberry frosting I have ever tasted!)
    Root Beer Float- vanilla cake with root beer buttercream
    Poached Pear- white cake with pear buttercream
    Just Peachy- peach cake with peach buttercream

    We will probably do a small cutting cake for the top tier of the stand, we just have to agree on a flavor.
  • We are having a two tier round cake, 10 in on bottom and 6 in on top.  It is a vegan vanilla cloud/buttercream and will have butterflies going around it.  For the groom's cake we are also going with vegan vanilla and it will be 12 in round with music notes on it.  And we are having a dessert bar for the guests, all vegan of course.

    I don't have any pictures because I'm just letting the baker do what she wants.

  • Also Aimee- you were right about getting hungry...I started talking to FI about our flavors as I posted and now he's decided that we need to drive out and get cupcakes from their shop.  :D
  • We're doing cupcakes also, but not on a singular tiered stand. There are several stands that are various heights. Some cupcakes will be vanilla, some will be chocolate, and some will be red velvet. We will also have a mini red velvet cake for us to cut. 

    No pics of what it will look like for sure, but here some ideas/my inspiration: 




    (these are the color ideas, but they won't be on one stand like this)

  • I'm having cake balls!! 
    The bridal cake will be all carrot cake with white chocolate dyed in my colors, so pink, green, and ivory, theyre arranged in tiers with the colors going in diagonal lines down. My topper is a .25 cent topper I found at a vintage store in Texas. The bride's dress looks just like my moms so I thought it was cute. 
    and FI's cake will be German Chocoalte cake balls with dark chocolate outside and milk chocolate drizzled on top with pecans.
    Theyre going to be arranged on trays around a giant galvanized tub full of PBR (FI's favorite beer)
    I attached a pic of the way her cakes look...the girl whos doing it was featured in brides magazine last year

  • We are having a 4 tier cake and the flavors are red velved and cream cheese, devil's food and fudge, vanilla cake and dulce de leche mousse and devil's food and chocolate pudding. 

    This is the cake inspiration...it will be ivory fondant and the lace pattern will be glazed..the ribbon will be made out of fondant and the flower will be supplied by our florist.

    Our cake was the first thing I decided on!!  I also have my own part time cake business though so that's probably why. ;)

    We are doing a three tier version of this cake.  The top and bottom tier are poppy seed with cream cheese frosting, the middle layer is "green" velvet.  The flowers I selected for the top are very different though.

  • We are doing a cannoli tower/cake. The cake flavors will be a grand marnier strawberry (for the top tier that we cut), also a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and a chocolate chocolate fudge. The cannolis will be both regular as well as chocolate chip filled. All guests can have some of each! I loveee sweets so I hope everyone loves these!

    As far as design, it will be a white buttercream with dots just like MBS0310 looks! We'll have blue hydrangeas as well, no cake topper for us!

  • Edible ribbon is just colored fondant that is cut into long strips to look like ribbon. I just didnt want anyone to have to take ribbon off in order to cut the cake.

  • Our cake will be 3 square, off set tiers. It will be all yellow. One tier will be lemon cake with a raspberry filling, another tier will be pink champagne cake with strawberry filling (and she is adding extra champagne! Sealed) , and the last tier will be chocolate fudge cake with cream cheese filling! So delicious!

    Since we are talking cakes I am going to show off my topper that I purchased from Etsy that came in the mail this past week! I absolutely love it!

  • I'm with you, inhisname2010. They didnt give me that option either and i was planning to just have regular ribbon on each of the 4 tiers.
