Hairdo for naturally curly hair with bangs?

Hello fellow Knotties!! I have really naturally curly hair that is a couple inches past the shoulders. I also have a fairly large forehead, so I have side-swept bangs that are straightened on a normal day. The catch is that with even a hint of moisture (humidity or nervous sweat) my bangs go haywire and look horrible.

Any tricks to getting curly hair to resist humidity?? OR any ideas for updos that won't eccentuate my large forehead? Here is a pic so you have a bit of an idea what I am working with! The second picture is to show you what my bangs do with humidity :/

Aveda.  They have a smooth infusion line that keeps my super curly hair straight no matter how humid it is.  They also have a curl control line again (yay!!) that does keeps curls from frizzing. (Not to mention a great air control hairspray). I would also recommend trying to find an Aveda salon to style your hair for the wedding.  I've lived in three cities in the past fifteen years and consistently, their stylists are the only ones I have ever found that actually know how to work with curly hair.

  • I agree with the Aveda smooth infusion. It's a great product. Also, what iron do you use to straighten with? The Chi iron seems to help combat humidity more than other irons. Also, Aquage hair spray is more humidity resistant than most.

I too have naturally curly hair-curlier than yours! and i also straighten my bangs bc i hate my forehead! haha. After years of daily straightening, they don't even curl anymore. But they still get messed up with humidity or rain. when its humid or rainy i found a hairstyle that does not involve me straightening my bangs- i take my bangs and twist and pull them to the side and pin them back so my hair is now half up half down. There are some days where i straighten them, so i what i do is, i use Chi hair oil, apply when my bangs are wet right out of the shower, blow dry, and then use a curling iron to get the look i want and then use hairspray to keep from losing shape and they hold up very well.
