Workout Accountability Saturday

Food wise Thursday and Friday were on target, but I was unable to get my but in gear and to the gym. Thankfully, not only is food good today, but I have already done 30 mins of aerobic and have plans to hit the gym :)

How is everyone else doing today?

Re: Workout Accountability Saturday

  • Food wise ok (just baked cookies for the kiddos so I'll try to be good!)...went walking today about two miles, the weather was perfect, I should've walked more.

Yesterday was bad for me.  It's six weeks until my friend's wedding, I tried on my MOH dress to see if there was any progress, and there wasn't.  On top of looking awful around the tummy area, I have a short torso so where the hips are on the dress are not where mine are.  Went to the alteration shop, since there is so little material in the seams they couldn't let it out, my only options were to try to find matching material and have panels sewn in, or buy another dress.  I had joked about the possibility of having to get a new dress, but the reality of it was crushing, I totally came home and cried. I'm afraid I'm going to have to spend an hour in the car to get to DB to see what size WILL fit, they have more stuff on sale but online only, and I'm so afraid to buy another dress I can't return -.-  I didn't exercise yesterday, but I lost my appitite so I guess it evened out.  I wear an 8, my wedding dress is an 8 and fits (will fit a little better once we put the corset back in), but I'm thinking I need at least a 12 in davids bridal size, but I just don't know. Not a good day...

  • Aw, sorry you had a rough day Pom. I used to work in a bridal salon, and spent most of my time convincing people to use measurements when ordering dresses, not sizes. Formal wear in general is sized smaller than regular clothing - sometimes two or three sizes smaller. Not good for the ego!

Can you put a corset in the MOH dress too? I've added panels to dresses before, and it works. But if I was you, I would make the trip to DB and try on sizes. I'd also speak to their sales clerks and explain what happened, and see if they can offer any additional tips or advice, since they work with these dresses all the time.

    Good luck!

I did cardio yesterday and today is a rest/planning day. If the weather clears up I might go for a walk. Food was good yesterday, but I made a cake for the family. I had a piece, but it was small.

Looking forward to a new week of workouts and eating even better!

  • The dress is satin, I didn't think I'd be able to get away with anything rigid underneith since it shows every tiny bump.  As a rule I avoid empire waist because it just doesn't work on my shape, but I could probably put a corset underneith one of those since it's looser, they just don't look flattering on me at all (we can pick our own dress in a designated color).  I hopped over to DB's website and looked at their sizing... my bust is I'm guessing between an 8 and a 10 since I know how the 8 fits, my hips are between a 10 and a 12, but my waist is good grief, between a 14 and a 16? :(  No doubt about it, I'm going to have to go try things on :/

  • Always buy for your biggest feature, and take measurements in inches - sizes aren't standard anymore either, I'm a size 8 at one store and a L at another. That's where things get tricky.

Can you put a corset back in the dress?

I don't like empire dresses on me either - I'm a 38D but wear an 8 in jeans. When I wear an empire cut I look pregnant, because everything hangs off 'the ladies.' Sheath/mermaid cuts look the best on me, since I'm hourglass.

Yeah, try some on. I know it's a pain to make the trip, but you'll feel better with a dress that fits and flatters!

    Good luck!

  • So, this week I have been noticing that my eating has been a little overboard lately. Working out well, but not burning enough for what I eat or eating less. Did yoga and an 1 1/2 hour walk yesterday and today was sore from yogo so just did the walk. Tomorrow back to the gym for higher intensity cardio. Also cutting out of any soda. Will be going through withdrawals for the next week or so probably...
