Recommended dress shops?

Hi all! This is my first post on the Knot ever as I just got engaged this weekend! I actually live in Maryland, but am from Scottsdale and am considering getting married in the Phoenix metro.

My question is this -- I'm going to be in Phoenix in two weeks and would like to go out and look at dresses with my mom and sister. (I know it's early, but I only get to see them a few times a year.) I have no clue where to go. Any recommendations?

I'm willing to drive (Parents live in Fountain Hills), but would like to stay in the East Valley. I'm looking to stay at the $1K mark or under (though ... you never know!) and am interested in the following designers: Davinci Bridal, Mori Lee, Alfred Sung (uh, not in my budget ... but I want to see it anyway!), Alfredo Angelo and Maggie Sottero.

I'm also interested in hearing more designers that might be in my budget that I should look at. Thanks!

Hi!  I'm in the exact same boat you are!  I moved to Baltimore a little less than 2 years ago, but am from Phoenix!  Our wedding will be in Scottsdale!  I did the same thing in January that you are doing.  I went home and went to a few shops and found my dress!  I went to Azteca and I do I do.  I know that lots of ladies have had problems with I do I do.  I personally didn't mind Azteca even though it's super chaotic.  Azteca has a large selection of Maggie, Mori Lee and Davinci.  They also have a lot of Casablanca, which is what I bought and was less than my budget which was $1000.  I think Suzanne's is in the East Valley and lots of the ladies on here like that shop.  I'm sure that you will hear from some of them too!  Hope that helps and welcome to the board!

Oh! Where in Scottsdale are you having your wedding? I live on the Eastern Shore, and am not impressed by the venues out here..

We are having our wedding at Troon North Golf Club.  It's way up there in Northeast Scottsdale.  It's a beautiful venue.  Have you started venue hunting yet?

Hello and welcome to the board!  Although the dresses that you mentioned above can be found at many stores around the valley, the ones in in this response will be those that other brides on the board have shopped at and recommended!

Azteca- downtown, service may leave a little to be desired, but they often have the best prices.  They often have a great selection of Maggie Dresses.

Alfred Angelo- I am not sure how long you have in the PHX area, but if you ever get back, Algred Angelo just opened a store in Tucson.  They only carry Alfred Angelo.  But, Azteca also carries Alfred Angelo along with:
    Once in a Lifetyme - 1231 W Warner Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284.
Kiaira's out on the I-17 also carries this brand. You could go and try things on, however, there was a bride recently who received the incorrect dress from this store and they handled it very poorly.

Davinci Bridal- Once in a Lifetyme, Azteca, Kiaira's all carry this designer along with I DO, I DO Bridal on 5310 NORTH 7TH STREET, PHOENIX Arizona 85014.

Alfred Sung - the only place that I see carries this dress is Lillian Lottie in Scottsdale.

    Good Luck!

I definitely recommend Suzanne's Bridal in Gilbert... They have dresses for all budgets (& tons of designers) and I preferred their customer service over I Do I Do (but I Do I Do has a ton of dresses / designers too!).

I second Azteca and Suzanne's! Suzanne's has better service, although mine was fine at Azteca, but Azteca has a way better selection. I tried on dresses both places, but bought a Maggie Sottero dress at Azteca. :) Happy hunting!

I also recommend Azteca and Suzanne's.

Azteca is in downtown Phoenix- and while they didn't have much to offer in the cusomter service arena- they do have a lot of gowns- something to fit every price range!

Suzanne's is in Gilbert- and they had great customer service.  They do still have a lot of gowns and Suzanne herself is very friendly.  This is where I found my dress and the one I chose was actually less $$ than my #1 dress at Azteca- so you never know!

Happy hunting- dress shopping is so much fun, as long as you have an open mind and good friends/family with you!!!

I also just ordered my dress from Suzanne's. I got a Maggie Sottero there that I had originally tried on at Azteca.  They did not have it in stock at Suzanne's but they could order it and match the price, plus their customer service was much better.  Azteca seemed to have a larger selection of inexpensive dresses, but Suzanne's still had plenty under $1000.

Thanks, all! I made an appointment at Suzanne's.

Just based on price and expanding my options, I'd probably also like to visit David's Bridal later in the week. Is there a particular location in the valley that someone would recommend over another?

kikikins - I would recommend meeting with Jeannie at the Auwatukee shop (I know I mispelled that but I'm too lazy to look it up)
