Maggie Sottero "Symphony" gown from the new 2012 collection - HELP!

I have been calling around the Metro-Detroit and Ann Arbor areas of Michigan to find a bridal salon that carries the Maggie Sottero "Symphony" gown, which is brand new. I have yet to find a shop that has this gown in stock so that I may try it on. Are there any ladies in the area who might know of a shop that carries this particular style yet (I would be willing to drive a few hours away)? The average price I have been quoted for the gown is $1200, which is a little much to pay for a dress I may not like once I have tried it on (but I do love it, and want it to be the one!). Is anyone familiar with the return policies on bridal gowns once a shop has ordered it in your specific size? Will they take it back and return your purchase price, or is it that once I have ordered it I cannot return it? There was a shop that stated they will order the dress for stock purposes for a $70 fee, but why would I pay that fee if it doesn't go towards the cost of the gown if I choose to purchase it? Any help that you ladies can give me would be greatly appreciated!

  • I am sure you already did this but just incase....
I went to the Maggie Sottero and looked up trunk show.  It gave me two places in Michigan with dates. I would call the first one and find out  if they have it since it is for this weekend.

  • Thank you for posting the information regarding the trunk shows! I will give that a try.

  • Elizabeth's Bridal in Northville carries a lot of Maggies I believe

  •  Becker's Bridal in Fowler carries a lot of Maggie Sottero, that's where I bought mine and it was worth the drive.  I think $1,200 is not surprisingly expensive for how extravagant that dress is. Mine was less extravagant and retailed for 11something.  Usually places cut you a deal if you buy it the day you try it on, or if you buy it at a trunk show.

The general rule at dress shops is that all sales are final.

  • I believe that Atlas Bridal in Toledo, OH carries Maggies.

Gallippo's Bridal in Toledo does as well, I'm pretty sure.  I've never really heard goo things about the store, but it'd be worth going in if they had it to try on.  I'd give each one a call to see.

Try Arena Bridal in Shelby Township. I ordered my Maggie from there. I actually was in the same boat as you. No shops carried Beatrice and it was the dress I had my heart set on. They did have a dress that was the same silhouette though, so I was able to try that on and get a feel for it. Since a lot of Maggie's have the same fit, this might be an option for you. They also offered to have the runway sample shipped to the store for around $50, but I decided against this since there was no way I was going to be able to squeeze my booty in that!!!! I ended up ordering Beatrice without ever seeing it in person. I'm dying for it to get here already. Good luck!!!
  • I got my Maggie Sottero at Dior, so I'd definitely check out their trunk show. Maybe call ahead to see if it will be part of the show.

  • Thanks to all of you gracious ladies for the advice! I called the shops for their trunk show listings, and no Symphony. I believe my only option at this point is to try similar Maggie Sottero dress on to see if I really do like the style, and possibly order the dress without ever having tried it on, if I am set on it. I have heard many success stories like this, so I am somewhat inspired. Who knew wedding gown shopping could be somewhat difficult like this!
  • Hi there,

I am just wondering if you did end up finding the Symphony gown to try on or if you ended up trying on a similar one (and if so, which one). I am a bridesmaid helping a bride find this gown and we are encountering the same problems as you... can't find it anywhere! =(

Please let me know, when you can.

    Thanks!
