I'm not too familiar with that side of the river.

But I do know that Anthony's Pier Nine and Patriot Hills are good ones.

PP mentioned them and a bunch of others.

Check them out. And congrats on your engagement and welcome to the Hudson Valley board!

That place is beautiful! But also way overpriced, at least in my opinion.

I would also recommend Round Hill House. I've been to 4 weddings at Round Hill and always thought everything was good.

We looked at this place and it is very nice with great grounds but veryyy expensive!! They will charge for every little thing -they just did like a billion dollar renovation so they obvisouly need to make up the money. I think it was almost $190 a person with tax & tip.

Are you looking to have a big wedding or small?

i would say Patriot Hills and Catlin Gardens were my favorite. The grounds on Catlin Gardens is so gorgeous but it depends on the time of the year you choose to marry in. I was going to pick it for my wedding but didn't like the way it looked in April.

All girls have given you great ideas, but just so you know, Grandview and Villa borghese are in Dutchess and Villa Barone is in Putnam.  They are not in Orange or Rockland.

Not sure if that matters, but wanted you to know. There are literally tons of venues in the Hudson Valley.

Good luck in your venue search!

Palacios is a new place opening in Goshen. The renovations aren't done, so you can't see it. I don't know how you feel about that. They have fantastic pre-opening prices though...way better than $190 pp. If its anything like it was pre-renovations, that place is nothing to write home about food-wise. The service was "eh" and the views weren't that fantastic. Anyhow, I don't think ANY wedding venue is worth paying almost $200 pp.

I agree with previous post regarding Falkirk Estate.  I live right down the street from them so naturally was interested in looking into the place.  The place is beautiful but not worth the price!  They seem to nickel and dime you for everything.  I also looked at Patriot Hill and definitly prefered them over Falkirk.

Thanks so much everyone for the information, I feel soooo welcomed on this message board.  I went to the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley NY today and met with the events manager, the place is gorgeous, she explained the renovations, not sure of my wedding date but they offered me a really good price for a Friday evening October 2011 at $20. off their regular price, they had a show last week and they are extending the price reduction until November 19th - I think it's $120.00 per person plus their service charge and tax - $158. pp for a really great package, their middle package called the country club which had everything we are looking for.

We have appointments this week at a couple of other places in Orange and Rockland and possibly into Dutchess County - thanks for the tip on going to the other side of the river....It doesn't matter where we go because we will have our ceremony onsite.  I have to say I was quite impressed with the Falkirk Estate place today.

My Mom and I stopped in Catlin Gardens a really nice place and the people were lovely, the gardens are beautiful, the price was around the same price if not a little more than the Falkirk Estate.   I really liked the hotel onsite, that was a plus, but the ballroom was not impressive, it looked a bit dated with the fabric and colors.  My issue is it's far from any major highways as I have people coming from NJ and Westchester, hotel is great, it's expensive though....Still shopping!
