Getting in Shape

Body by Vi: Reviews & Experiences?

Hi all!

Anyone tried the Body by Vi system or 90 Day Challenge? I;ve been hearing a lot about this lately and am just curious if it has had any positive results for anyone!

Re: Body by Vi: Reviews & Experiences?

  • I'm anti.  They seem to push a lot of unnecessary supplements and i'm never a plan of meal replacement shakes/smoothies.  plus the shake has an artificial sweetener in it and I'm concerned about the negative effects artificial sweeteners can have on the body.

My mother went to a Body by Vi party two weeks ago and could not stop talking about how great they are and how they're so nutritionally sound and the perfect addition to any healthy diet.  She's not preaching now.  She gained 5 lbs in two weeks by replacing her morning oatmeal with a supposedly super-healthy protein smoothie.

Why don't you just try a calorie counting plan with a bit of exercise if you want to lose weight?  Gimmicky things are often not worth it.
  • Anti!  I tried it just because I heard so much about it.  I was appalled that for 2 bags of just Soy protein I had to pay almost $100.  I think if you are extremely obese and sedentary of course it will work.  It is restricting calories and keeping a mcmuffin out of your hand.

Also, if you aren't a stay at home mom it isn't that practical.  I had 2 make two shakes in the morning and then keep one in the fridge for lunch at work.  By the time lunch rolled around it curdled a little and had a funky texture.

The premise makes a little sense, but just healthy eating always works, everytime.  I make protein smoothie with a whole banana, a tbsp of unsweetened cocoa power, a tbsp of organic peanut butter, skim milk, and ice and it gives me enough nutrients to last me until lunch and loves of healthy vitamins.  Plus its delicious.  I bought some gladware that is 1 cup sizes and will bring Morningstar chicken free chicken nuggets (so yummy, taste like real chicken), chicken breast, or veggie meatballs (also morning star) with 2 tbsp of a dressing like fat free honey mustard (by the mustard in the store, not the salad dressing), 2 tbsb of veggie marinara sauce, etc to dip them in.  Lean proteins keep you full.  Then I'll bring a fruit or veggie for a side and a tbsp of semisweet chocolate chips for dessert (70 calories, very sweet!).

In the afternoon have some almonds (so many flavors!  cocoa and salt and vinegar are my fave) or some hummus and cucumber slices.  When you get home for dinner just follow the half plate veggies, 1/4 plate lean meats, 1/4 starch.

That way you're getting all your necessary veggies, nutrients, etc!  Any fad diets seem suspicious! : )

  • PS I didn't mean for that to come out at is you are obese...I meant for people that are obese and sedentary.

  • I use the shakes on occasion as a meal replacement. The shakes are tasty and easy to pack as a lunch. I haven't tried their 90 day challenge. I also bought mine from eBay and amazon so I wouldn't get stuck with their auto replenishment program. I like Anna know someone who went to a party and they showed her how to mix butterfingers and fruit juices to make smoothies. How that's supposed to be a weight loss shake confuses me! Like I said, they're good as the occasional meal replacement but don't think I could survive their challenge!

  • I don't understand anything that pushing fake sweeteners.. That's a HUGE red light for me right off the bat. Honestly, if you have the will power to get on stuff like that, you have the will power to food log.. and that can have the same outcome.
  • UGH, seems like everyone in my area is jumping on the BBV bandwagon.  I am ANTI-BBV. I have been watching the results of my "friends" and im not impressed.  The first two weeks they have great losses (DUH!!) then it fades out.   You would get the same results making your own shakes with greek yogurt, fruit and milk.  Best of luck, great job asking and learning about this before just diving into it!!

  • I tried BBV. For the first two weeks I saw great results. Then after that, nothing. I don't have a whole lot to lose either. I know a women who has lost tons of weight on it. I agree with the above, I think it works in theory.

I still have the BBV shakes for breakfast or a snack. I think they are tasty, and that's really the only reason.
